Meanwhile, elsewhere in Socorro...
The elves stare back at the small gathering of young men and women who
are seated at a rather flimsy looking table. Each has several dozen strangely
colored and shaped dice in front of each, as well as several sheaves of
paper.
One of them recovers enough to turn to look at the stunned looking man
who has a pewter red dragon statue in his hands. The dragon falls out and
makes a clanking noise as it hits a mat with drawings of what look to be
the outlines of borders.
"Okaaaay, what did you place in the food?" the one woman says calmly
as the man turns and stares at her. "I may be really into AD&D, but
I'm not going to buy four elves coming out of thin air. If it's a gag by
you and your friends in the SCA, that's fine.... but by God, I've never
seen such details in costumes....especially in the rather buxom female
blond elf!"
B'Elanna mutters something in Klingon and stands straighter, resigned.
Though she and her friend E'eysha may be as small as children, now, there
was little chance for being mistaken for little girls (more like mature
woman in miniature).
Gilmuriel looks at Elrondir, who's ears twitch in exasperation, and
just shrugs back.
"Well, so much for the subtle approach," Gilmuriel sighs, figuring that
there is only one course of action. "Go!"
Gilmuriel bounds for and out the door (that he throw open), quickly
followed by the others. All know that this world has never actually seen
elves....nor did it have a significant amount of magic to be appreciable
(that all changed when the Master caused several lines of force......lines
that were LEY LINES.....to converge at the VLA).....according to a theory
proposed by Sigin and some of the other wizards before the odd trip began.
That would come later from events that are currently taking place at
the VLA with a Time Lord who likes to dress in black, a Time Lord who dresses
in a dandified manner, and two women who are in a car.....who have stopped
at a general store hunting for clues. It will all come together to deposit
this entire world AND it's moon in a solar system that is fifty light years
from Terra Prime.
This course will not be altered by the adventurers, else they risk untold
disaster from paradox.
E'eysha, not even winded by this flight, is able to shout to her husband.
"So, where do we go to find our comrades in this alien land!" she asks,
at an uncharacteristic loss.
Elrondir and the others stop suddenly as they sense.....something amiss.....up
in the sky.
A huge bronze scaled dragon, who'd been befuddled to find himself flying
above the very town of Socorro (he assumed), had sighed and decided that
since he was already UP here, plain to all the increasingly frightened
humans below, he might as well use his mage abilities and cast a spell
of seeking. He doubt he'd be able to locate two human woman by the name
of Betty and Ragan in the crowd below.....but Sigin was sure (if what Betty
had told him the truth about there only being humans (!) on this world)
that the alieness of the Doctor and the elves would stand out like a beacon
in the night!
The elves had been nearest....and wonder of wonders were in plain (for
a dragon) sight. Human beings would be hard pressed see them, since they
were hiding in an alleyway (yeah, difficult to accomplish on short notice....but
elves have a knack.....).
Sigin chuckles mirthlessly and shoots down to the street were they are....causing
several people to scream and run in the OTHER direction.
"Get on!" Sigin says loudly (deafening in his dragon form). Sigin layes
his head on the asphalt and waits impatiently to get the point across.
E'eysha laughs and runs with the others! Now SHE, like several of her
OTHER analog sisters, would be able to brag and enjoy the ride on dragonback!
Sigin, as soon as his elven passengers are secure, takes off in a wooshing
leap, and explains telepathically that they were going to be heading to
a spot nearby that spells had revealed the Doctor to be, land and alter
their appearance via Glamour and natural draconic ability to appear more
human, and hopefully be able to blend in enough to get in contact with
the Time Lord....and then see about getting in contact with the others
some how!
"Did.....you see that?!" Betty gasps, pointing up at the rapidly departing
dragon and elves, "Their heading in the direction of my.....er....."
"Of this world's Betty's trailer," Ragan says, jumping into the car
that they'd been able to borrow from one of Betty's friends who'd been
eating a meal at K-Bar for a change (and who had been confused as heck,
having been sure she'd left with that Stacy woman already just awhile ago).
They'd been driving around for only a few seconds when they'd spotted the
dragon land a block in front of them.
"I think that he appeared over the town in his natural form," Betty
sighs, thinking. "I doubt he'd otherwise reveal himself to so many people
and scare the bejeebers out of them on purpose. It's not in his nature
to be that....uncaring."
"Whatever," Ragan says, keeping an eye out for police (who's sirens
are coming from somewhere), "I just hope that he can blend enough....and
has enough sense to try to blend in.....with the people around him......"
Indeed, Sigin lands something like several "blocks" away from the Doctor's
location and do indeed shift his and his companions appearance (his own
by his natural draconic abilities and his friends by small magic). They
even make a somewhat convincing set of frightened people running and screaming
for their lives AWAY from where the "monster" had landed and was supposedly
running amok.
-
It would have
helped if they'd switched their clothing's appearance to something more
contemporary, but then again, the few who were of calm enough mind to notice
the discrepancy would have put it down as an SCA thing...
