Beating them at their own game?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 49973

Chiana

"Yes." Mr. Bond answers without a microt (er. . . .second) of hesitation.

I might still be a bit new to this place, but I swear if this fat man was Sebacian (a human appearing race who's a star power to be reckoned with out in my home reality) then I won't trust him as far as I could throw him!

I . . . there's just something "slimey" about him (that's the right Earth term, right?). From what I read from Mina's expression (though she tries to hide it) I see that she's wondering if Bond looks even shiftier than usual for a moment!

I trust my scoundrel skills (so useful for surviving and thriving out in the Uncharted Territories before I'd met my dragon lover, Sigin): Bond is NOT to be trusted. Elrondir had already said that Bond might not be trustworthy, but from what I saw (and overheard) that suspicion was correct!

What is Bond's game? What is he up to here?

. . .

How is this guy and his boss, M, going to try to screw us? Us and the rest of our new "friends"?

Well, the Doctor and us need just a shaving off a small portion of the Cavorite. We'll snurch it before it gets turned over so IF Bond tries to screw us over by refusing to share the rock . . . .

Well, they'll never know. Besides . . . its just harmless snurching!! Not like that bloody Cavorite will do then any good anyway, ya know!

See, ALL Cavorite according to Trilling Blackfeather's vision will denature, making it utterly useless for any proposed lunar expedition, period! And at a guess intuition-- something that I didn't ignore before as a Nebari woman and shan't ignore now since I am dragon . . . . bad for living a long an prosperous life--there's gonna be no more of the frelling dren being made after this stolen batch! That axiom wash thing (changing of the universe's physics into that of what I'm familiar with), you know. The alchemist who originally created it back on Terra Prime . . .suffered an unfortunate accident (erased his entire memory . . . . reduced to an infant's mentality, Sigin tells me)! It won't (I PRAY) be reproducible by the "science" that these Victorians used.

. . .

More in a moment on that. See, it is like this . . . the way for creating the stuff had been now lost for over fifty years. Trace remains costing a fortune to use (and thus why we're here vice back on Terra Prime tracking down enough for US). See, despite it being rare (and rarer as time goes on back on Terra Prime) it's a good thing! Good, considering how dangerous the stuff is going to become! See, in the quantities that we were told were made by Trilling . . .

Good thing that there are no alchemists familiar with Cavorite in this reality, since there's enough out there to give each and every last person in this city total and PERMANENT amnesia twenty times over!

Would leave them in such a state that they'd be comatose vegetables . . . .

. . .

We don't even want to whisper such things aloud. They're not . . . mature enough culturally yet for even this relatively small (by my standards) weapon of mass destruction.

. . .

Crichton's people were barely able to handle atomics and . . . .

Ah, nevermind. WE are not gonna tell them about what they can do with the Cavorite even after we turn it over (and later on cause it to disintigrate due to . . .unexplained circumstances).

Well, that's the plan, anyway.

Right now, we've got to act like we all didn't overhear what Mr. Bond and Mina discussed. Acting out like everything is new news to us here in a bit.

See, the rest of the League needs to get briefed and that's going to happen (from what I overhear) at this secret annex at some museum back in London proper.

That and someone named "Mr. Edward Hyde" needs to be properly . . . integrated into the group here.

Wonder where this Hyde guy is? I mean, I saw someone named Dr. Henry Jekyll (really small and puny looking man, really), but nobody I'd peg as the missing Hyde, I guess . . .

Well, whatever!

. . .

Hm, do hope that sometime here soon I get to put in some eye drops to sooth my burning eyes. These contacts in my eyes are beginning to hurt like flaming Hezmanna . . . .

. . . .

Oh, didn't you know? My eyes in my "human seeming" are just like they'd been back when I was just a Nebari female, ya know? The irises and pupils were the same color.

Pitch black . . .

Heh, speaking of that color that had been a drad movie by the same name and . . .

Ah, but I'm kinda drifting off topic, eh?

Back to it...

  1. Anyway . . . Well, let's let Bond (and the other Leaguers) stay in the dark for now on what we actually know, eh?

Go Back
