The Never Ending Quest - Episode 49641

Mina

I turn to the male Australian doctor, who looks to be easily the strongest of their group. "Dr Shaw, perhaps you would be good enough to help Mr Qua... - I mean my husband - carry this person outside. If you, or one of your group would like to come with us in the cab that our servant is fetching for us, then I'm sure that we would have no objection. The rest of you could follow in a second cab. I believe that you would like to talk to us, and I would certainly like to talk to you."

Mr Quatermain looks as though he is about to object, but I quell him with a look.

The Doctor

Ah, so it appears that "Mrs." Murray (that latest slipup suggests to me that she is not even married to this older gentleman) is in addition to so many other things is--if not the overall leader--a person to be reckoned with and given the . . . personality types she must be dealing with I (and my wife by the looks of her) can now well UNDERSTAND her.

From what I remember reading of Mr. Quatermain alone would be trying enough. These others that she must interact with . . .

If I’d been in her shoes I would have kicked them off my TARDIS because of the personality clashes. That she can ride herd on them, leading them is . . . impressive.

Oh, not to say that I could not lead this motley bunch. No, I am not saying that. I am just saying that given the choice I would NOT do it. Given the choice it appears that she would not either, BUT I am impressed by her force of character.

I’ll make allowances for her flare of temper with us. Quiet understandable, given everything.

Still, I am rather glad that Fertal’s actions had worked. Murray being under stress or not . . .

"Yes, by all means," Fertal agrees, sealing the bargain (for now, at least).

Not wishing to be separated, we all are going with the League. Somehow I have a gut feeling that we are VERY close to obtaining at least a LEAD to where we need to go to get our Cavorite. That being the case, it means we shan't be splitting up. Or at least as far as possible, given that a carriage can only carry so many!

Besides, I would like to have the group close together, just in case Ms. Murray's handler, Mr. Bond, tries something. Yes, I would have the full resources of the TARDIS at my disposal if we slip up and do it that way, but then again if Bond does a bait and switch he could bag my friends for further interrogation later.

. . .

Or at least he could try . . .

No, I feel better this way. Best of the choices presented to us.

I'm sure you agree, right?

Moments later . . .

Along with Fertal, I and Sigin shall ride with Murray's group. I am, after all, the leader of my group so it falls to me to discuss things with Mina, leader to leader.

As for Sigin, he is coming along as well because of several reasons. First, he IS the most powerful amongst all of us, magic wise. If push comes to shove if things go sour, his magical might would be a great equalizer in a battle. Second, the Leaguers here already know that he has curative abilities, if now perhaps not due to "traditional" medical means (i.e. we shall reveal that he has at least some form of magical powers). He shall be along to aid in case of complications that Griffin might suffer due to having been knocked unconscious. That or he shall aid in putting Griffin under again if he should regain conscious and become . . . unruly. Third, while in route we do wish to interrogate Griffin and Sigin has a . . . knack certain spells useful that could pry information out of even one as barmy as Griffin might now be due to . . . . certain injuries received in his . . . capture.

But before can really begin the interrogation . . .

"Now, forgive me if I am being abrupt but please tell me . . . how do you know of us and me?" Mina asks politely (if a bit forced) as the carriage jerks to a start. "What business do you have with Mr. Griffin?"

  1. And if I may, I hope I'm not being rude in asking just who . . . what are you?" the Sikh puts in from the side.
