Moonraker
Aeryn Pip "So do we do Bladerunner or Moonraker," I ask the others. "Why the hesitation?" "We actually were wanting you girls in gray to decide which one to go on first," Ragan says, smiling slightly. "Honestly, we're in something of a tie which way to go first when we'd taken a straw poll. One is about as good as the other, so we need you both for a tie breaker. . . and if the tie continues we toss a coin." A what kind of poll? That didn't exactly translate right . . . That or it's a term that came up in school (the Nebari equivalent) on a day that I'd skipped . . . And while we're asking questions here, who exactly IS James Bond? Not someone I ever heard of out in the Uncharted! (Note: probably not needed to most, but for those who'd like to know who James Bond is (created by Ian Fleming, copyrighted belongs to him the movie studios who made those Bond movies) here's a bios on Bond: http://who2.com /jeeves/ jamesbond.html ). Well, maybe here soon that can be . . . "And besides it's just good manners to include your input," the Doctor adds. Hey, that is rather . . . thoughtful. But thoughtful or not, it would help to know exactly what happened in the movies that the realities we'd be visiting mirrors! Help to shape an opinion on the matter, you know! Of course, when I and my sister mention that, somehow we all end up AGAIN in front of the large screen "television". Must say that I find this "popcorn" rather . . . interesting, but a little greasy. . . . "Prefer the books to the novels myself," I overhear Inquirer mutter to Crichton before the movie begins. Oh yes, she had said she preferred the written word over the image when conveying a story, if it wasn't being told by word of mouth . . . "Preferred Connery over the other Bonds," Crichton mutters back, having a make do look on his face. "Didn't exactly care for Roger Moore's portrayal, myself . . ." We all watch the movies, and while it's enjoyable enough I can't help but note that some of the others squirm in several spots as if they want to object to one part of the movie or another. Almost like they object to what's on the screen due to the unlikely nature or some such. Professional pride being bruised or some such? (Note: plot summary of Moonraker here: http://www .imdb.com /title/tt0079574 /plotsummary
. . . .and for Bladerunner here: http://www. imdb.com/title /tt0083658/ plotsummary). Some parts I find . . . objectionable for various reasons and . . . Well, nevermind. We'll see what we can do about that when we get there! Heh!! In the end we decide on Moonraker. My sister wants to visit there first for some different . . .reasons than me but at least we have a decision. Wonder what Bond will be like if . . . Nevermind, we'll see when I . . . we get to that point! It's always a question of just when to step into the picture. When do the Champions want to get into it, events here that are being (again) reflected on the silver screen? In this case, it's rather easy the decision where. Alas it's too late when the TARDIS appears in this reality, using coordinates provided by Sovay. The Moonraker shuttle's engines had already crisped the 747 which had been used to transport it over to Europe. The plane's crew was now dead, and that's that. Still, from what they soon find out argues that there need not be more death. That's the thing with this group, they'd agreed early on to do as little permanent harm (and death IS so very permanent) as possible in completing their Quest. Therefore, it was decided to step in here. Perhaps the manner of the "stepping in" is questionable, but then again it has a certain . . . appeal to some within the group with quirky senses of humor. Besides, this is a perfect way at slowing Bond down long enough for our first "rescue" to take place. Sort of a bait and switch deal, we'll got into that here after THIS. . . Since Sigin was the most familiar with barkeep business (since before coming to Terra Prime he'd been the owner of an inn), it fell to him to play barkeeper. Even if it is decidedly odd to find a barkeeper IN his room, awaiting him. Then again, given the opulent setting of his host. . . . Having seen enough Bond movies to know beforehand what 007 wants, he plunks down the martini before Bond can do more than open his mouth. "Not stirred, but shaken Mr. Bond?" the dragon mage asks the slightly bemused agent. "Correct?" Yeah, of course this raises ALL sorts of alarm bells within Bond's head... First the attempt on his life within the centrifuge room, and now this?
