The Never Ending Quest - Episode 41655

Meanwhile, Aeryn-Pip (as we'll call her for now), is in her hotel room, weighing options....

Aeryn-Pip

Looking at options right here and now don't fill me with a lot of confidence. Too new to this place. This smelly, stinking city!!

Fossil fuel belching vehicles.

Talk about primitive!! And I'd hoped that when Crichton had mentioned his "car" (another name for those primitive things outside) I'd somehow believed that, somewhere, he'd mentioned something about . . .about alternative fuel sources being sought after. Electric cars and that kind of dren. Don't look that way when I was traveling here, let me tell you! Had actually considered taking one of those yellow "taxis" that Crichton mentioned in his babblings from time to time. They're supposed to take you where you go, if you pay them enough.

Had my hand halfway up to hale one when I saw how a taxi in this city of "New York" (or the "Big Apple" seems this place has two names) drove. No WAY in Hezmana will I take one now! Don't have a death wish, thanks!!

So walked here to this poorer section of town to make plans. Look at resources. That stuff.

Only....while I have the jewelry, money from those I'd snurched from, and dren like that, I'm kinda thinking that it'll not get me too far. Don't know how to find the best places to pawn it. Frell, don't know exactly where to pawn it without risking being turned in to Enforcers for my trouble! There are those storekeeps out there who are . . . . honest....

Hard to believe, but true! Law abiding....

Don't get me started.

Okay, bottom line is that I might be in trouble here. More so than I first thought!

Maybe I can somehow "invent" some high tech toys, to boost the local technology levels to something decent (and eventually bring about a way to get OFF this planet)...

....

Looking around this dren heap of a "hotel room" I cannot say that this is the worst place I've slept in . . . but it sure comes close!

Barely lives up to the promise of "clean room"!

And by now due to the rather thin walls I realize why exactly they have the option of "hourly rates". Noise. Squeaking beds.

Groaning. Need I continue?

Well....that is an option, but.....only as a last resort. Remember a few times where I'd almost ran into angry, big fellows who'd been less than pleased that a "solo" had horned into territory their "Organization" had already staked out! Was close a few time there....last one had almost beat me senseless, saying that I could continue doing . . . what I'd been doing but I'd be working for him and....

....

Heh! Brings back memories, let me tell you! Yeah, memories.

While we're here, "strolling down Memory Lane" as Crichton would put it, I remember how I had "fun" with D'Argo before this present frellup. Better to stroll than try yet again to try to get the frellin' TV here to work....

Yeah, D'Argo. Meaning I should have...would have "fun" with him before that . . that wormhole experiment frellup that Crichton had! But how the frell was I supposed to know that was going to happen?! Really? Before he'd been tall and.... But after he-he....shrank.

Yes, that wormhole experiment frellup! Some grew. Some shrank. All except for a few were changed. Those who'd changed came to look (in part) like someone else aboard Moya. The changes to ME had...Had been almost as shocking as seeing my old face (and hearing my old voice) coming from Wrinkles. You know, Noranti? Old woman with a third eye? Smells because she doesn't bath?

Well, in the end I'd tried to carry on with plans. With D'Argo...

In more ways than one, I believe! Before I'd been looking forwards to having fun with him. Had taken long enough, wearing him down and then Crichton had frelled up and...

Had went on to try anyway, just-just to try, okay? Had hoped that the change hadn't...but it had...

It...wasn't....very good. Pretty much ruined anything for that. No fun at all.

Sigh, only thing he sucked worse at in BED was being Captain when the Peace Keepers cornered Moya and....and....

....

Waitaminute, there it is AGAIN! I know that it was the Sheyangs got them. Had frelled us all. Frelled up the ass! Great plan that Crichton had come up with, of course. Tell me again why I'd listened to him instead of running?!

Only me and John on the only deck not filled with toxic dren and I'd been wanting to have fun with him like we should have first time, but....

....

Why do I keep having flashes of a strange iceberg floating in an oily sea? Why do I remember Crichton, some guy with deep, dark black eyes, and this one guibo who....fed me something?

Something I keep tasting again and again on my lips?

....

Oh, I like the taste. Like nothing I'd ever had before, but....

That last guy had. . . . scared me . . . and I'd been too weak from breathing all that smoke (toxic dren finally found my deck) to get very far away. Couldn't crawl very far or fast at all, even AFTER he'd shoved something down my throat and....

Had gotten a bit away, I....think. That's where that memory of John Crichton's leather clad "friend" shooting me . . . . and then the wound closing up like....

Magic?!

Then, a sharp pain all over my body, and I somehow ended up here....on Earth.... looking like my old self!!

Or on an Earth, if not Crichton's Earth. No, it's an Earth with a lot of creatures you'd find in a Stephen King horror novel!!

Aeryn-Pip shakes her head, clearing her confusion for the moment by putting it aside. She decided to just say "frell it" with her useless TV, instead concentrating on how much make up and hair tonic she had left. With it, she'll be able to blend in. No secret government labs for HER, thanks. Besides taking away from that fake Earth in the wormhole incident that not ALL humans talk like Crichton, there were those humans who . . . really weren't ready for alien encounters.

But our Aeryn-Pip is a survivor. Need to be one to make it in the Uncharted Territories, right? Can survive anything, it seems, including perhaps (maybe) the bunch of people who break down her door and corner her!!

  1. Theyr'e all men, by the way. Mean looking, too.... Low level Mafia types, it appears...
