Regent Malachi I have already pasted overhead of the TARDIS and those outside her when I spot the grey skinned woman who's become the mate and wife of the analog to my husband. Must say that that look she has, the grey skin and silvery white hair gives her a decidedly exotic cast, but I should add that it rather defeats the idea behind the human seeming, let me tell you! The seeming ability is useful in blending in within normal human society (even if most dragons I'd known tended towards beautiful forms that do stand out). Myself, I'd chosen a human seeming that was a more plain version of this: http://www. geocities.com/ rule179/Character PicCressman2. htm#home Rather proud that I could put aside vanity for practicality, but that's me. Nowadays, there's really little need for the cloak and dagger reasons which made such things needful. Oh, it came about at a rather high price, but.... Nevermind. From what little I recall from prior discussions with Betty and Ragan in passing over TV shows there is something very . . . shall we say flexible about this young, new dragoness, but not so "flexible" as to rule out her being totally untrustworthy. I as regent of Ethiopia have found it useful to be . . . flexible in certain matters of politics so can appreciate that. Sometimes circumstance drives needs, you know. And being that from what other things I remember (and know from my Sigin) means that within this Chiana is a worthy addition to the Eternity, Inc clan. Might take a lot of time and patience, but if there hadn't been the potential within Chiana, then Eye meets Eye wouldn't have happened between her and "her" Sigin, right? .... Well, at least I won't dismiss her out of hand, okay. "Dragon Sigin", her husband, had said she was worthy of what we shall attempt here soon enough. Would like her to join the Circle like the others, you know. It would allow her to more easily mentally connect with her teammates (and the rest of the clan) AND serve as a bridge for her to more easily grow to trust the rest of the clan. One thing that that does so very much stand out from those idle conversations with the others over that Farscape TV show was that Chiana (the TV version at least) doesn't trust easily. Only reason why she trusted the Doctor and his companions so much . . . has come to trust them so much was a combination of the trust she sees her Sigin having for them AND that Inquirer and friends had actually saved her brother. That is something that her mate had sent along to me before this meet. Well, it's going to be an interesting meet, if nothing else. Nearing the ruined village (of countless ones that dot the land, testimate of the Phage), I'm gliding to land when I see (looking back) her coming along behind. As per Dragon custom, I stay in dragon form whilst the newest potential member of the Circle presents herself. See, by custom the eldest member of the Circle present (me) serves as judge on the worthiness of the pledger. It’s a holdover from the days when a Dragon had to be extremely careful with who they chose to ally themselves with. Being that I and my old Dragon Circle were on the out with the Occidental branch of the powers that be within the now defunct Council of Wyrms, caution was a deadly necessity. Anyway, we have only gotten as far as exchanging names when the adopted parents of the Doctor flies in and lands. They as well wanted to meet this newest Champion and won’t be denied. Trilling Blackfeather can be most stubborn at times, actually. Did want to take it a bit slower and had request, as national leader to national leader for a bit more time. But gryphons being gryphons.... .... Well, at least their unexpected visit (Blackfeather and his two wives) hasn’t frightened the young dragoness. While she looks startled enough, I take that she’s more taken aback by the ebony gryphon’s majestic form (and believe me, he’s majestic in my opinion), she hasn’t changed back into her dragon form in a fight/flight reflex. Later, I’ll learn of the quick picture taken by Inquirer’s adopted brother, Roland Deschain, will capture the moment. It’s a rather striking scene as you can see: http://www. geocities.com /rule179 /imagesof astra.htm #four
(Note: right now this is a VERY rough draft. Incomplete. That being the case a fuller description will be presented here). It's of an odd meeting happening at the ruins of a town with classical Greco/Roman influences, in a field. Half of the group is upon the ground, looking up at the other half (three griffins perched upon either a thick, mostly intact column, or various tree stumps serving as perches). First, let us start (going left to right) with the first figure. It is a red female dragon named Malachi (Regent of Ethiopia). Is rather large, being able to look the griffins in the eye. Is right now perched on the ground, wings folded and hands (i.e. the front "feet") crossed over each other, in rest. Is smiling fondly down at the vixen named Rosepaw, though that‘s kind of hard to tell (dragon facial features being somewhat different than human). Is sitting behind Chiana. Would put her (in this form) as having a wingspan of approx 200 feet. Sitting on all fours on Chiana's right is a red furred vixen named Rosepaw. Is approximately two feet long. Her tail is wagging a little bit as she looks back at Malachi with a grinning, foxy smile on her muzzle. Is what some would call an "uplifted" creature. Is as smart as a human being and imbued with magical powers (because she's a familiar to a mage not shown on scene). Wears a ruby collar that goes so well with her fur, really. Next we have Chiana herself. She looks very much like what you’d see on television except she’s wearing an outfit more fitting with the medieval style that Terra Prime still has, despite all she’s gone through. Looks rather nice in that outfit, really... Now, for the gryphons. Being that the forest is beginning to encroach upon the ruins after all this time, trees aren’t a surprise being in the picture, eh? With that in mind, don't be surpised to see where at least one trees (with the top broken off due to lightning strikes) wouldn't be the perfect roosts for the female gryphons (and the male gryphon sitting on the highest point, a Roman column).
They are placed as followed before Chiana. On the ground, with her head cocked to one side, is a gryphoness we'll call Morning Song. Next, we’re looking for the male gryphon named Trilling Blackfeather. This is an ebony furred and feathered gryphon, very regal in bearing (is a king of the gryphons). Majestic, even. Is just looking down at the group before him, with an unreadable look on his face. Finally, we have his other mate/wife, Evening Star. Is perched a bit behind (if only a bit) Blackfeather. Is perched in a tree like that seen in the gryphonperch.jpg picture. Last few notes. This is happening at noon time (bright). No clouds in the sky. Is spring type weather.
"Who the frell are they?" Chiana whispers, still taken aback by the Doctor’s adopted parent’s appearance. Somehow I believe that despite having been told that the Doctor had been adopted by gryphons that she’d been expecting . . . . somebody of more human appearance.
