"So, what should we call 'Junior'?" E'eysha asks, smiling with a
fey gleam in her eyes.
Ragan Poor "Junior." I can't help but feel a little bit sorry for him. A new baby ought to be the center of attention, but we've all been so busy running around playing save-the-universe that we've barely had any time for him at all. On the other hand, Pilot assured us when we returned that mother and baby were bonding well, and that it was actually rather restful not to have everyone around for a while. So perhaps it's not too bad. Definitely a lot better than what happened to him in the TV show, anyway. "I'd say that was Pilot and Moya's decision," says Aeryn, in response to E'eysha's question. She turns to the clamshell on which Pilot's face is visible (his den having proved rather too small to accomodate all of us comfortably). "Have you decided on a name yet?" she asks him. "Moya and I have discussed it," he says. "And she would be honored if you would name him, Officer Sun." Aeryn looks deeply honored, herself. "Thank you, Pilot," she says. "I will... have to give it some thought." "You know," I mutter to my brown-haired counterpart, "If things have changed so much from the TV show that she ends up calling him something other than Talyn, it's going to be hideously confusing." I don't intend for Aeryn to overhear this, of course, but I guess Sebacean ears must be pretty good, because she turns toward me with an odd expression on her face. "Talyn?" she says. "That was my father's name." "Uh, yeah," I start to say, slightly embarrassed. "I know." I also know she's not comfortable with this TV-knowledge stuff (for perfectly understandable reasons!), and I'm about to apologize. But she simply says, "It's a good name." "Talyn it is, then?" asks Pilot. She nods firmly. "Yes, Pilot. Talyn." Crichton lets out a cheer. "Wish we had a bottle of champagne to smash across his hull!" he says. "Uh, unless that'd hurt. In which case, we could just, I dunno, throw him a baby shower or something." "I... don't think that's necessary, Crichton," says Pilot dubiously. "Yeah," says Crichton. "I guess we don't really have time for a party, huh? Witness my complete lack of a wedding reception."
