Scorpius No, it's really quite simple. They've been stalling for time... And the slow smile that Inquirer gives me tells me that I must have somehow let it show in my features, for she's apparently surmised what I have surmised.....and is mocking me now! But exactly what purpose do these stalling tactics serve? Surely they cannot think that they could locate and rescue the Lady given only the short time they have managed to stall me. ..... Surely.... Throwing off whatever odd, out of sort feelings that smile gave me, I then fire a small, smug smile right back to put her out of sorts. With that I start to reach for the transmitter, only to find . . . that Inquirer is all over me And she's more . . . than I bargained for, I fear, as I grapple with her! She. . . .! After a few seconds I come to the quick conclusion that better that I drop the transmitter and drop the "distracter". It is small explosive toy that not only gives off a blinding flash of light but, as an added feature, gives off an energy pulse that my quick analysis of the alien technology temporarily disrupts it, giving me time to make an escape without worry of being detected by those "tricorder" devices, amongst other things. As the device goes off, I feel Inquirer's hand freeze in place as she seems to.... stop in place and stare as if frozen. .... As I scramble away, cursing this turn of events, I will look back and wonder what it means. But right now, whatever my distracter did to Inquirer, it proves only temporary. Right now, I now find from the shout of anger from behind me as I get away, that she seems rather . . . incensed. . . . And whatever else that grapple has done, I somewhere lost the backup transmitter as well! This is proving to be "not my day" as that human, Critchon, said in passing. Now have a MUCH better understanding of what that phrase means, I am sure. Well, if I cannot do it by remote means, then the Lady shall pay the price for betrayal by my own hands, personally. Oh, not that I shall kill her, but instead I have now gathered that I have been mistaken. Critchon's group. Seems that we have more parties involved in my affairs than I gathered before now. Critchon has allied himself with a third group and not just a member of this Company. Maybe right now this third group might not be able to be leveraged with just one of these "High Lords" as they have been called. More are needed, I feel, so that NEXT time they shall listen to . . . reason. Of course, that means I must be away BEFORE I get caught by that rather odd, irate woman that's after me.... Chiana I hold back a curse as I pull the last element to yet another trap upon the entrance to this craft. Finding it had been amazingly easy, what with the masterful spells cast by my mate. He is a dragon mage (meaning that he's very knowledgeable about magery) and thus Scorpius had not been able to think to take precautions from that quarter. Heh, shows you something. Shows you how quickly I am getting used to the idea of actual magic being a fact (and being soon to be able to cast it myself). However, this part of the show comes to me, with me being a master burglar and all that. But I am finding that Scorpy is....rather good in that same vein, and it's slowing me the frell down!! If we should still be inside while. . . . Uh, I don't suppose we could get the dras out of here after....? I say nervously. I mean, are you sure that they can....? I stop myself, before I can go further embarrass myself! Scorpius has his hands full by what he's facing, after all. The Doctor and Inquirer strike me as being . . . rather good at what they do! Sigin, understanding, touches my thoughts gently in understanding and I find myself shivering in delight, pausing in bypassing the locking mechanism.
