The Doctor "What happened?" one soldier asked thickly, looking at us and then at the slagged Dalek. That is what I shall take as my que, being that I graciously gave over my turn at action to the "Professor". At the time I was rather...annoyed with him for jumping the line, but now.... Right, to business! Being that honesty here just would not do at all, we must do what we must. That is, we lie. Being that part of the truth would probably not be believed (that is, who we actually are) and part of it would get us in trouble (that Inquirer was the one who knocked them unconscious), it is the only thing for it. "Are you alright?" I ask as I lead one of the more unsteady looking chaps to a pile of lumber which he can sit upon. After seeing he is, I then spin a tale that we all had agreed upon beforehand. I tell them how lucky they are we came upon them when we had. Seems that some muggers had struck them from behind, in search of money and/or the weaponry they carried. Whatever the case, this...thing at our feet had scared them off with it's weaponry and maybe would have done them in unless we hadn't made the scene and destroyed it with some experimental explosives we had planned on using anyway in this junkyard. That is, we say we were going to experiment with our explosives on some of the more massive piles of junk about here. "Oh crap," Inquirer then says from the side holding an intact weapon protrusion from the Dalek, acting out her part rather well, "I recognize this thing from..... If this isn't some kind of joke...." She makes a show of aiming the business end of the rod away from everyone before seeming to push some kind of component within it and a amber beam slags beam of iron, seeming to prove the things authenticity. No mention was made of the fact that the rod in question was actually Inquirer's plasma pistol in a magical disguise. "We need to talk with you commander immediately, soldiers!" the Professor says from the side, a bit overdramatic. Still groggy from being knocked out (and suitably impressed with a demonstration of the weapon), the soldiers aren't assertive enough to prevent my wife from getting them to contact their Group Commander. With a few more prods we manage to work out of them the location of that female scientist with her direction finding equipped van. We tell the sputtering Commander to meet us at the van and rush off before he can tell us differently. "Your wife is quit...persuasive, isn't she," the Professor observes aloud, trying to perhaps tap me for information in order to get a better feel for her. "You do not know the half of it," I chuckle, failing to elaborate despite a few more prods from the Professor. Indeed, that is very true. While he might be older than I am, I rather much doubt that the Professor ever had had a girl actually pursue him like Inquirer did with me (re: 8870).... .... I say! From clues I have gotten earlier and the revelation I got from Betty and Ragan I rather doubt that the chap would have noticed such an advance.... No, that's not fair, but then again I have a feeling....er.... Let us just say I wonder how he got along with his Romana back in his Fourth Regeneration. Judging how hot the relationship my now elfin brother, Doctor Four and "his" Romana.... Uh, let us just.....drop this line of inquiry...before I continue to embarrass myself further.... Well, anyway, we soon are standing in front of the direction finding van and while Inquirer is explaining to Ace just why the ariel on it is so impressive (considering the era...after having explained England's money system of this era). Holding up my hand, I wave the Professor off. This time it's time for one other to have "the fun". Inquirer has already gone off to see if that young blonde girl is about to see if: 1) the link between her and the Battlecomputer can be safely (and magically) severe, and 2) see if before that happens if she could make sure that the "gold" Daleks are indeed the ones we do NOT want to get the Hand. Whatever the case, the marking spell on the Hand tells us it hasn't been moved as of yet... Better to make sure than to make a mistake. Being that she is rather good at stealth and rather resistant to the mental forces she'll face as she plunges in to look into that link the blonde girl has. Anyway, quickly back to the van....and quick we must be because the longer we spend on this matter the more we risk that sleeping pixie's sanity which is still in Sigin's pouch! .... Nobody else has made contact with the people inside yet, meaning that the Group Commander hasn't tried to contact the scientist yet....
