Win Leela over to our side.....then come after me, Sigin sent
back, I'll see if I can talk some sense into these puzzlewits!
As soon as they are out of sight and hearing, Inquirer deactivated her
cloak of invisibility and looked over at the surprised Leela.
"Okay, look." the AI/Golem sighs, "The Doctor is not the Evil One, despite
what you think."
"Who was the one who saved you?" the Doctor puts in.
"You did," Leela conceded, "But why?"
"Because you needed aid, my dear." the Doctor said, "Nothing more than
that. If I was the Evil One, would I have bothered saving you?"
"Well....no," Leela begins, suddenly unsure.
"Ah, thank you," the Doctor sighs, "And you welcome about saving your
life, by the way."
Leela sputters, giving a rather belated thanks, befuddled at the sudden
turn of events.
This goes on a few minutes. Quickly, it becomes through the course of
conversation that this Leela got thrown out by her folks for the
same reasons as her TV counterpart (not believing in Xoanon and being against
an approaching raid on the Wall that supposedly keeps their patron god
prisoner and such).
Betty is the one who finally wins Leela over.
"Our friend even went as far as to draw himself into a rather dangerous
situation to save your butt," she says finally, "We must go and aid him
if
it goes badly for him with Neeva....."
"....that's almost a given with Neeva," Leela put in.
"Then we better get in gear and go," Betty continues, "Your help would
be appreciated in helping him and helping us stop this useless attack on
the Wall. Are you in....or not?"
Leela just looks at Betty for a second, wondering what she's getting
herself into....and sighs and agrees to aid the adventurers.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Law, Neeva, sensing that this strange newcomer
is somehow a threat to his hold on the tribe (frankly, he shows no respect
for him....just like that the girl that he'd had banished just awhile ago).
Something must be done, else his hold on the tribe could very well be loosened!
That would not do! He spoke Xoanon's will and his hold on the tribe was
essential for his gods continued good will! It was vital!
So......
Sigin
The hunters had finally regained enough nerves to....er....insist on
tying Sigin's hands before leading him into see Andor and Neeva. Sigin
had sighed, figuring that it was a small price to pay to have a shot at
perhaps at getting a look at the "brains" of this outfit. Wasn't like he'd
be totally helpless. There was that one guy he met a long time ago (kept
saying he had came back from the dead and being a magician of great repute).....
"What in the name of Heaven are you doing?" Sigin asks, perplexed as
Neeva prances around with a blue object with handles (with a series of
words written in English, a language he'd only learned recently, that was
"particle accelerator.")
Whatever that was, the shaman was waving it around like....
"See how it fears the sacred relics of Xoa...!" Neeva beings to shout,
still shaking it about when Sigin slips his bonds and grabs and SLAPS Neeva
across the face!
Sigin just got tired of it, seeing that it's kind of going down from
here with this guy who's jumping around like he's got fire ants in his
leather pants. The dragon mage is well familiar with power plays.....
"Stop!" Andor, Chief of the Sevateem, commands Sigin as his guards reach
for weapons in shock (who was this fool to strike their shaman!?).
Everyone freezes as a wave of mind numbing fear (an ability all dragons
have upon reaching Wyrm status) washes off of Sigin as he shifts to dragon
form. As brave and fierce as the Sevateem are, facing a angered dragon
is well and beyond their experience, so they freeze (understandably).
"Now listen to me very carefully," Sigin growls, looking down
at the fear frozen figures below him through the humans before him (seen
through the torn leathern tent who's ceiling he'd grown through).
Yes, a bit extreme, but it sure got their attention!
A few minutes later....
Leela has cut a way into the back of Neeva's place, and is wondering
(and worried) as one of the elves (B'elanna) is just holding one of the
sacred relics (!) and shaking her head.
Their friend had met them (seems that this Ragan somehow knew
that Neeva's room was a "weakpoint in camp security" and had told Sigin
about it beforehand). Oddest and most unpleasant shock that Leela had experienced
when she almost ran right into him when entering......
What this Sigin had done must have been something, because Andor and
Neeva were staring from the doorway into Neeva's room with VERY frightened
faces.....but something told her that they weren't going to cause trouble......
The fact that both aren't calling for the Doctor's death (since he looks...like
what he looks like) is amazing. Leela made a mental note to ask ASAP just
what
he said and did to manage that miracle!
That is when the golden haired "elf" (a species of person Leela
had never heard of or seen before) lady speaks!
B'elanna
"What in the world is a computer tape reel doing here?!" I mutter in
disgust, tossing the relic over my shoulder....and making perfect contact
with the odd helmet that's up on a frame behind me!
-
"Neeva!"
the helmet says, "Neeva!"
