Meanwhile, back in the Death Zone with the First Doctor and his
companions and such.....
Adversity. All Champions must face it when they first are set off by
either Rule or Agent. It's part of the strictures they and the Rules and
Agents must deal with. Thus is why several hostile Sontarans were teleported
in. There could have been more, but....hey!.....they're in the freaking
Death Zone! That and the few Sontarans is enough!
The battle is over and victory won.....and the First Doctor just shakes
his head in silent bemusement at what he'd just witnessed.
When he'd first heard the strange tale that these two young people had
told he'd found it strange..... and some parts unbelievable. He'd put the
parts about "magic" and "dragons" as being utter nonsense..... medieval
superstition and such. However, though the Time Lord still doesn't believe
in magic..... there is definitely something to these other folk's beliefs!
How else could what appears to be highly ornate armor, enriched with
red glyphs and such, be able to turn aside laser blast as if nothing?!
The one called Lord Frederigo D'Honaire had explained it as being fortunate
that this "Flamebane" Armor, a conveted item for "Dragonslayers" was immune
to not only dragons breath.....but laser fire (as well as being somewhat
resistent to magic).
Between him, Astra, and a Dalek who'd popped in out of nowhere and started
to scream about exterminating them all these short (but inhumanly strong)
aliens had been killed off quickly.
Astra wipes her enchanted blade off and stares down at the organic parts
that had made up part of the inside of the Dalek.
Susan just stares between them (armed with #$%#$% swords for crying
out loud), the defeated high tech foes, and her grandfather.
"How?" she finally asks, at a loss.
"We already went over it," Fred says, getting a bit tired of it.
Both warrior princess and knight got knocked around a bit in the fight
and are a little less understanding due to aches and pains at as to why
these two can't seem to grasp the concept of magic....
"Well, I'll......go with your explanation for now, young man," the First
Doctor finally concedes for the moment.
Astra just looks at Fred, who shrugs.
"Now, the next order of business is just HOW do we get out of this building,"
the Time Lord mutters. "I think....."
Susan suddenly has an idea.
"Grandfather.....I think that that one dead end could be made into an
exit," the young lass explains, "After all, you said something about it
being less......well constructed compared to the other parts of the wall.
"I think if we take one of the discarded weapons from those rather rude
short men we can do something that one chap.....Rodenberry I think.....told
us about in that one science fiction story he'd been working on....." Susan
explains.
Five minutes later after an ear searing sound from the overloading energy
weapon, a blast opens up a hole in the wall.....and a way out is provided.
"Nice to know that she can do something besides scream," Fred mutters
to Astra as they begin their trek to a clearing in the distance where it's
hoped they can spot the tower......
A bit later....
The First Doctor is about to call for a break (his body is rather
worn down and kinda.....oldish) when Fred and Astra shout and point to
an odd blue box with arcane writing on it. Acrane, for though well educated,
both knight and warrior princess are NOT literate in English, and thus
can't read the words "Police Box" on what Susan and the First Doctor recognize
as the TARDIS.....
-
They enter
and find Tegan, Turlough, and what turns out to be the Fifth Doctor.
