It was already past noon and the late autumn days were shortening with
each pass of the moon. Fred was first and foremost a Knight of Allaria,
son of a great Duke. Though the possible consequences of the foolish Eliza
pained him, he knew well that his return to Caemlyn must not be stalled.
"M'Lady Eliza, daughter of a smith, I leave you then with these words
of caution: the world is a grand expanse and the gods leave most men to
their own troubles. Whatever is finding its way to the frontiers of this
land cannot have but evil in its heart, poison in its liver, and worms
in its gut. If you value your life, learn first what it is that prowls
the vales within the mountain vastness that is called the Goth. If you
do not, you will die."
With that Fred left the inn, rejoined his sister and the dwarves, and
after haggling from the stabler two horses and two ponies, they were off.
Within the inn, Eliza rolled the words of the unkempt soldier in her
mind.
