She bows deeply, and the King then signals for her to rise.....
She does as instructed, and then notices that she is the only person
in the throne room. Whatever this is, it is a private audience.
Oberon, standing as tall as a human man, looks down at the newest of
fairies, and nods to himself.
"I must say, lass, this is the first time ever I have seen a Changeling
Process occur at such a late stage in life," the noble King says, looking
down at the six inch tall winged woman, "Nor have I ever expected it possible
with one who's been baptized in the name of the One."
And the process also usually doesn't entail a gender change,
Oberon mentally added to himself, looking over the fairy woman speculatively.
"One?" the fairy woman asks, perplexed, then smiling with dawning comprehension,
"You mean the Lord?"
Oberon winces as the name is said, and it takes all his intestinal fortitude
just to stand his ground and not go screaming from the room.
Ama'lis, horrified at what she'd done, stammers for forgiveness (all
the while wondering why it should be possible for her to say that Word
that causes others of the Fair Folk to flee, howling in pain). Oberon chuckles
ruefully as he waves the fairy woman to silence.
"Be at ease lass," the king sighs, sitting on his throne heavily, fatigued,
"‘Tis not as if you meant to do harm. However....."
The King's face grows reflective as he mulls over the latest babblings
from the High Priestess of the Oak and the Ash.
"However, it does very well illustrate just why I can not have you in
my Court," he continues.
"What?" Ama'lis whispers, horrified.
"Oh no, I'm not going to Order you to join the Unseelie Court, lass,"
the king laughs softly, "Rather, it's more of what the Oracle called a
‘.....lateral transfer to another Office.....' What, as I understand it,
entails you going to another Court entirely.....not of the Dark Ones....but
Something different."
"Sire?" Ama'lis asks, perplexed.
"Yes, we will send you now," Oberon says before Ama'lis can protest.
As the fairy woman fades from view, Oberon then says to aid the
flame haired Aqualarian woman called Astra La Post.
-
"She'll
be your ticket into your new family and Court," the Fairy King says in
departure as Ama'lis fades entirely from view.
