Vincent nods, having gotten used to the manimal's empathic ability
to read other beings emotions.
"I do indeed have a question," the eccentric wizard asked the bear mage.
"Why Alicia on this adventure?"
Manbear Synizn smiled. Almost all those present who weren't manimals
had asked that. With a smile, he'd answer that question again and again
until all were satisfied and enlightened.
Dr. Vincent was the last person on his list he had detected with misgivings
about a pregnant shefox going into such heavy combat.
Fifteen minutes before combat….
"That's the last of them," Alicia smiles, referring to both of her ammunition
AND to those who had objections to her going.
"That's good," Fred says, brushing the furry cheek ruffs of Alicia tenderly.
"It isn't like they can object to having a woman go into battle, just because
they have children! They need all the magical aid they can get! Rosepaw's
children will be looked after during the duration of this battle while
she and her mate, Sigin, fling spells together. Astra 2 will be able to
be a credible foe to Zerm with the Flamebane mail. That red rune etched
battle armor is also very magic resistant, as well as fire proof."
At least on my and my analogs worlds, Frederigo D'Honaire qualified
himself silently as his tail swished about to show the anxiety he felt
about his upcoming battle.
"Yes, if we are defeated in this battle, the children's lives are forfeit
anyway," Alicia sighs, tail intertwining with Fred's own tail. "It won't
matter whether or not the children have a mother….or father….alive, for
from all accounts that the dragons gave of Zerm painted a picture of a
man who'd go after every living relative of those who'd dare rise up against
him."
Fred nods, praying that Alicia survives this upcoming battle.
It was a matter of honor that he should go into battle to save his friends,
the world, from the scourge that was Zerm.
Besides, he was one of the few people within the Pack who was a warrior
by profession. The others could fight, but Fred's training as a Dragon
Slayer and knight screamed out to be used.
It was within Alicia's nature to follow her husband into all ventured
he went into, for she was a most loving and loyal soulmate and lover. Furthermore,
she also had the heart of a warrior beating within her furry chest (just
like he did).
Even if Fred had tried, he couldn't have prevented Alicia from coming.
Just thank God that manimals are able to perform all things that they
were able to do while they hadn't been pregnant. Else Fred would have more
qualms about this….
14 seconds before combat…..
"Remember," Probe calls out, knowing that it was unnessasary but still
needed to be said. "Hit and run. Never fire from the same place twice,
for that's a sin in the Sniper's Bible. And if you must close for melee
with Zerm, don't hesitate to do anything to take him out. This man is the
worst of the worst, from all accounts, and will be out for blood when he
finds out we just took out his ghost friends."
"A man of no honor deserves no honorable end," Rafael, nicknamed "Ralph"
by his Pack brothers and sisters, says solemnly.
A map that had been left behind in the vault, upon the dead Astra's
cyro-unit, had shown the interior of Zerm's hideout and all the pertinent
details. Computer logs showed that Ajax had interfaced the verbal command
input part of the onboard computer, and had the computer print out the
map.
Inquirer had just shaken her head, muttering something about Ajax doing
a fine job of recon.
It would be good to use AFTER this battle was over. They needed room
to maneuver for this battle against Zerm in order to survive.
Raising her Crystallic within her claw, protected by the glyphs of the
vault room and the magical circles of protection drawn around her, Malachi
says a silent prayer before sending her friends and a small group of Eastern
Dragon Allies into the lair of the beast.
Atlantis appears around the group. A scream of outrage comes within
the pyramid before them, and then a tall man in green outfit steps out
of a sudden openning in the building.
