"So, you think that Mother and sis....our sister, Fredwina, are possibly
in that castle that Probe told us of?" Fred 1 asks, looking down at the
"hardcopy" of the satellite image provided by the AI.
"It....looks remarkably similar to home....back when you showed us the
old drawing plans back when Great Great Grandfather Dillerd D'Honaire constructed
it," Fred 2 says, pointing. "It even has the Exact same family crest painted
on the inner defense building, on the roof!"
The elder D'Honaire nods in agreement. Indeed, the black, stylized griffin
alight black tower was present. It had been a sign (some would say a foolish,
vain, sign) to challenge any and all dragons that dared fly over Castle
D'Honaire....home of generations of Dragon Slayers!
The family symbol of Frederigo (the manfox) D'Honaire's castle had been
that of a feirce, crimson lion. It also probably would have been present
on this world's Castle D'Honaire....but it had been burned away and was
so much ash and ruins.... What was left in Probes other pictures of what
had been the seat of Suffex.
"It could well be....or not," Duke Dredrick D'Honaire says, looking
at his two sons. "But something says to me that the Norns, or Whoever,
has indeed brought Castle D'Honaire from beyond and dropped it here.
"But whatever the case, I'm going there," the Elder D'Honaire stated
firmly.
"Not alone, of course," Para-Astra stated, already seeing the answer
in the elder man's eyes.
"Of course not," Dredrick says. "But....the group coming along will
be a small one."
"Small indeed!" Fred 1 mutters. "I can't speak for my brother, but between
my duties here in Walants and my children, the question of whether or not
I'm coming along is pretty much moot. Gods I wish I could, but..."
Fred 2 and Astra 2 nod in agreement. Being a single parent, even with
servants, was difficult. Fred 1 wasn't coming along, however.....
"Wait a moment," Astra 2 says, looking at Probe. "I remember talking
with my sister, Astra La Post, about how she and her friends of this world
traveled around in a metallic ship that....flew through the air at speeds.....
Only using the slipgates are faster!"
"That....or using a Crystallic!" Fred 2 throws in. "We still have at
least one mage who's on her feet: Inquirer."
Dredrick raises one eyebrow, liking the idea of getting back to Allaria
and Castle D'Honaire in a matter of seconds or minutes, instead days or
weeks. He had overlooked that in his plans on riding back to Allaria by
horseback.....
-
"Uh, let me get in touch
with a few people back in Ethiopia on that," Probe demurmurs, and then
goes stock stiff as he calls out, from a speaker on his base unit, to Inquirer.
