Military Ship Down!

Basically, it's the proto-Dark Elves (for want of a better term right now for what happens next) who detect it first. The first . . .stirrings of what Eric Jones talked about back in episode 24895.

Oh, it's nothing like a mysterious "movement of the Force" like in Star Wars. Rather it's something they catch with their ears, their sensitive elfin ears!

Hands down, except for perhaps the dragons when in their natural form (which none are right now), this elfin couple has the best hearing of the lot.

They overhear something because of that and due to some rather . . . funky acoustics of this particular stretch of the Blighted Forest.

They remember what their rescuer from the Military had told them while en rout to back to base, and what panicky conversation (intermixed with screams) they hear over the breeze.

It has some background noises, electronic, that they'd detected faintly when they'd played around with communicators awhile back. One voice they overhear sounds rather familiar.

It's the voice of that one female Golem, Inquirer! HOWever, odd thing is she's referring to her old rank while talking (using it like she's still IN the Military....or in this case the Alliance version of the Military). See, this is the Alliance version of Inquirer. The one who didn't retire. The one who didn't get transfigured into a Golem.

The one who'd been attached to one Investigation into Company affairs that had taken a wrong lead and ended up on this world, chasing a false trail. Now, the Dark Elves who'd falsely befriended these strangers (who their Masters tell are strangers from another realm and should not be missed).

It's cruel and petty, but the Dark Elves are having a slow night. Slaughtering strangers from a strange land is what they want to do. They've slipped off into the woods and are hunting, now. Some are even on the hidden landed ship, hunting down humans within...

The one who's avatar has somehow ended up in this Forest, separated from her unit (and coming across the slaughtered body of one of her fellow soldiers, killed by a Dark Elfin "friend" who'd turned on him for the fun of it).

Of course, this took place, Terra Prime clock, awhile ago. However, the passage of time is odd when you jump between universes. Especially when the Agent who did it was being . . . . creative. The Investigation was into Company matters which the Doctor and Inquirer (the Golem one) ran smack into in another story thread. Long story that, but this is this story thread, as it were.

Have the makings of a causality loop here. Alliance Inquirer is shouting, over her coms about possible scan signature to look for.

Problem is, Inquirer's ideas, while having merit, aren't on the right track. Jones told of an entirely different set of parameters. Parameters which they can easily tell them (the Alliance Inquirer's group) over the combadge they'd (Artizza and Fertal) impulsively snagged, just on a whim. Might have proven useful, during times when magical communications prove to be useless or dangerous and shouting over long distances a disaster in the making. Yeah, the others (other Champions) had said not to take along high tech stuff, but . . . . elves can be so . . . elfish at times!
