Two Bridges... One Elfin and Living... the Other Draconian and Departed ....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 40451

Gender wise, that is! Rather disconcerting to those not expecting it! Enough to make Sigin stop and stare!!

The change is swift, whatever the case. Shoulder length hair grows and snakes down the back of the centaurs, turning into a beautiful mass of hair. A veritable cape, really. Hips (or where the human torso meets the equine portion) shift and widen. Human waists narrow and breast....become VERY ample and firm. Faces shift and soften, becoming very pleasant to look upon. Very pleasing.

Basically, it's as the Two Girl prophecy would have them. Beautiful. Even as males they'd been rather handsome specimens. As female centaurs, the trend continues.

Beautiful, but rather shocked and on the verge of all out panic and flight into the darkness of the Blighted Forest.

....

Not good considering all the dangers out there. This Sigin knows too well. He'd come prepared, spell wise and such, and knew that if these centaurs fled they might never see the next day. Lots of things in here would love having them for lunch (as the main course). No, caution and wariness was needed, to avoid traps and ambush.

Thus is why the young dragon mage casts sleep upon the centaurs before they can flee. He'd come here to study strange phenomena, not let tragedy strike.

"It's dangerous out there," he explains, gesturing out at the wide woods about him. "If they flee in blind panic...."

"They'd die quickly," Synizn finishes, nodding his massive reptilian head following the reasoning. "Best try to calm their frazzled nerves and perhaps see what can be done for them. However, I believe you'd asked us a question."

The last part is said as passengers jump off him and the other dragons and he and the other dragons shift back into their human seeming. Bringing Sigin up short again since he'd only recently shared this little ability with his friend (concept he'd learned from the humans he'd studied so long) and associate, Malachi.

In the end, it is the departed female dragon that acts as bridge between Sigin and the others in gaining a measure of trust. Sigin and Synizn, after talking with each other, realize that their is a commonality between them through Malachi. Both have associations with her.

Well, Sigin take the news of her death..... It's a blow but the others tried to deliver the news as softly as possible. This is enough, the reaction, to show that this Sigin probably is a good sort. Just a guess, but still....

On another note, he's not too happy to learn that he's been gone longer than he'd planned, but he'd realized that was a risk he'd taken in coming in here.

That settled, for now, they still have to deal with the slumbering centaurs. The bridge (they hope) will be within the elf named Fertal, who might be an analog of the one raven haired female equine beauty.

Question is, is the doppleganger effect going to take place in a victim of a Transform Door when it might be that the analog in question lost his....er....her memory of her prior life? If so, mayhaps the link could be used to gain a trust not only in the analog, but in her companion as well (using the analog as a bridge).

Time to see. If it works, then something must be attempted to fix this mess, if they'd lost their memories. Longer they wait the longer the chances of recovery, you know. But at least for the moment, the centaurs have human appearing ears instead of horse ears sprouting through that lovely mass of hair on their heads. That kind of shift meant a mental shift into a more primitive, instinct bound form. An almost xenophobic fear/hatred of higher technology beyond sword, bow, and spear. A phobic distrust (sometimes) of others not centaur. An inability to understand anything beyond a simple, nomadic life.... If this shif happened, it would happen soon, else never, but still it was a looming concern, eh?

Chances would be much better if they were at a fully stocked mage laboratory than out here in the boondocks, but....

Under a calming spell, the female centaur in question is awoken.

  1. "Who are you?" Fertal asks softly, looking up at the raven haired centauress. "Do you trust me?"
