The Lesser of Two Evils?

"Stealth doesn't seem to be serving us very well so far," I say. "We'll take the risk of going by dragonback. If we fly low enough and choose our route carefully, then the chance of being seen from the ground shouldn't be that much increased. Nor should the risk of alerting wyrms or mages who are after the Crystallic be that much greater. And even if we're spotted, it may not be obvious that we are the same people who used the Crystallic earlier. I suppose the main danger may be Moreau, since it seems likely that she's somewhere in this area."

So we abandon our horses, hoping that they will find their way safely home, and Dragon Synizn and Dragoness Astra take us "aboard". All goes well for a couple of hours, during which we put at least fifty more miles between ourselves and Walants. At this point, there might be a case for returning to terra firma, but of course we wouldn't have horses any more so progress would be slow. So it seems best to carry on as we are.
