"Where are the werefoxes?" Ringroot bursts out. Arkas glares at him angrily. Apparently oblivious to Arkas's black look, Ringroot goes on: "We all face divine retribution if they aren't dealt with correctly. [15164] And as for Synizn..." He looks over at the native Synizn, who even without the beard that he had as a werebear can evidently still be recognised by the demifox.

Arkas puts his head in his hands. He knows that demifoxes are inclined to be impulsive, but he had thought that Ringroot had more self-control than that. As soon as he himself had seen the unexpected strength of the opposition, he had given up any hope of getting his hands on the Crystallic. Now, after Ringroot's less than tactful remarks, he will be happy just to get out alive and untransformed. "Look," he says. "Please forgive my colleague. I'm sure that you people are more than capable of sorting things out in an appropriate fashion, especially now that you've got the Crystallic to help you."

  1. "So you know what this gizmo is, do you?" Dragon Synizn says. "I thought that you must do when I saw you all look so worried when I pulled it out. That's good, if it means that you will be sensible."
