The Never Ending Quest - Episode 33746

Jarlath

"Now all we've got to worry about is the little matter of getting her out of here and across this Maelstrom Bridge* thing." Fertal 4 says right before we are rushing down the secret passageways of Angar's castle.

Well, to be quiet frank, I think to myself as we go. THAT happens to be a VERY big worry right now, brother!

We do first have to get out of the castle first (which could be the most dangerous time for us). Then we have to travel the distance between here and the Bridge, which could take a day (at best) or a week (at worst due to evading pursuit).

We should know it by sight once we see it, though. The Bridge happens to be rather obvious. One part looks (in this realm) ordinary enough, other than it being an overly wide and large stone bridge. That is, the part on this side in this realm. One part is anchored on the ground here, but rises up into a cloud shrouded place (clouds hide the dimensional rip into another reality/world called Core Earth). If we travel over the bridge (and through that realm of clouds), we come out into (by our maps) into Core Earth’s England. By notes on the map say that this guard posts for Angar’s forces have abandoned it (for now at least, I guess to try to handle the mess back here to keep what Angar’s acquired) so we (we HOPE) can get across the bridge safely to the TARDIS (or I should say, a TARDIS)...

Seems strange that these Bridges, a means of deadly invasion originally, should serve as a means of salvation for us now....

....

We make it (not without trouble) out of the castle into the night. As luck would have it, out hopes that with the death of Angar all his henchmen would be more concerned with other things. I mean we had hoped that Angar ruled through fear and with his death his henchmen would be all too happy to let the evil mage's killer get away. Small hope, I know, but still....

Well, seems that some henchmen had some high hopes at gaining a lot of power by kowtowing to Angar. With his death, I believe they are rather annoyed with us and want to take it out on us! By the looks of things (by the way one man's screaming at his men), he wants our blood (probably even our newest member of the D'Honaire family, Dreamwalker)!

Probably will kill her in some kind of dark, goofy evil sacrifice to some such evil "god" or "goddess".

....

Hey, I'm not a religious snob. It's just that I really do not respect religions that demand such sacrifices. Call me strange, but that's me.

Yeesh, these folks might call themselves "Vikings" and look (and kind of act) like the folk who brought the religious beliefs that some of my parents (Drederick and Champlaine) have, but it's only a superficial resemblance. In what I've learned of it, in even the pre-Ragnarok **. . . .

Nevermind, I’m rather too busy right now to chat so if you’ll excuse me....

**Ah yes, those of the Norse belief back on Terra Prime believe that those of their religious belief (along with some VERY surprised Norse Dieties who’d thought they’d been destined to die in that “last war”) somehow managed to not only survive it, but rebuild in a new, different land. Exact details of this are too much for here, so we’ll leave it at this for now, okay?

Days later...

Astra 9

Well, by God’s own love we have made it, despite every creature and man they sent after us. However....

  1. Even though I see that the Doctor (might be What, Who, or Which, can’t tell from here) has managed to warn these Royal Marines of our coming, they STILL look rather . . . jumpy.
