Various Unstated Thoughts on the Matter

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 27439

Jarlath

"I imagine that the Dragon must have transformed her clothing," Belboz says smoothly.

"I see," my love, Astra says frowning as she observes that in a neutral tone (er, guess I should call her Astra 9 for the interim considering the unexpected encounter here with her analog), "And pray tell, how long ago did you manage to win her free from the dragon's clutches? Not too terribly long ago, I would imagine."

Belboz frowns a little bit, as if not quiet following my Astra's line of reasoning in her questions at first, but then light a light it dawns upon him exactly what is the reasoning.

"But of course!" he says in an almost hurt sounding voice, "Wh-why of course I did. After all…."

He sighs a little bit, glancing over at the mute Astra (guess I'll just call her and then quickly away).

….

Well, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Hey, he's old, but not that old. Guess I shan't begrudge him a….liking of beauty.

…..

Just as long as the old goat doesn't cast his lecherous eyes on my wives! Meaning that whilst he'd perhaps make a fine possible ally against the dragon, there are limits that I'll tolerate!

Hrmph.

At least the erstwhile Fred and his companions have failed to catch that little byplay, being not in position for that one little indiscretion. As for my wives (who also saw that), they--for now-- also keep silent. Guess that they, like I, do not wish to alienate Belboz. If he is like his analogs elsewhere, then I believe that whilst I could perhaps match (and defeat) him in mage combat (if it came to that), I'd rather not. Would rather save it for the bloody dragon, thank you!

But as for that glance….

Never thought I'd see something like that from Belboz, whatever the reality or ethical inclination.

See something new every day, I guess.

I and the other elves keep silent and still, despite having witnessed the interplay between Jarlath and the others over the mute Astra. After all, despite the rather repugnant stench of necromancy (followed up by that rather brief glimpse of Belboz being, in appearance at least, a "dirty old man") we Fey elves can keep a reign on ourselves.

Besides, after a quick mental "conference" between myself and my fellow adventurers, Jarlath's logic about not wishing to further alienate Belboz makes enough sense.

Would have loved to . . . Teach him some manners (as roughly as need!), but still….Jarlath's suggestions make sense. For now.

….

Still, I have to agree with my sister, Astra 9. The story of this realities Astra having been traumatized to this mute state just does not sound . . . right. The Thessamers who call (or had called in my case) themselves "Astra" are by needs rather . . . fiery.

Then again, I do have to remember that even Astra (whatever their origin) do have limits. After all, poor Astra 5a and 5b did go a bit mad (if for a bit) after the stress from a combination of attempts at magic while "their" Rift mucked about with "their" Crystallics. Only thing that brought them back, they tell me, was the love of their goddess (Artemis) forgiving them for their (demifox instinct induced) indiscretions. That and the love of their respective Freds.

….

Well, as for the former I shall keep to my own religious belief, thank you. Was baptized and wish to remain Christian, thanks. At least in the end, because of being Champions, we should (I believe as do the other Champions) live long enough (and grow wise enough with Time's passage) to at last uncover the truth and see who's religious beliefs is correct…and who's are not.

Must admit we do run the gamut. Some members beliefs range from atheistic (belief in no diety) to the polytheistic.

Yes, diverse group we have. But that aside is by the by!

As for the latter part of madness' cure….who am I, an elfin man, to sneer at love!

Could regale you hours on end with praise I can pile upon the anima to my animus (and perhaps do a bit of side stepping about questions about how I originally, whilst human and a woman, had expected the arrangement to have been "anima to animus").

No, but now let us concentrate at the task at hand.

I and the other elves shall be good and civil (if somewhat aloof). For now, anyway, we shall be that. However, we shall have to keep an eye out for anything else odd about this necromancer! And if nothing else, whilst we keep an eye open, we have a quiet mental chuckle at what happens next. Oh, they seem to have noticed the warm feelings we feel for each other but as of yet have not broached the subject with us complete strangers. That's not what I'm speaking of, you see.

  1. "Are you daft?!" an aggrieved sounding Tarin nearly shouts up at Belboz!
