Minestus, after having awoken earlier, is just about out of patience.
His summons had been IGNORED for long enough. Something had
been otherwise occupying his targets attention, so less subtle means of
drawing his fish in were needed.
While asleep, as all elder wyrms are able to do, Minestus was able to
figure out the parameters of what was needed to successfully plumb the
mists of Otherspace and draw forth another realm's Crystallic. A special
element was needed for this to work in the dragon's favor. Dark things
like his counterpart….who would strongly object to the theft of "his" Crystallic….and
be able to foul the summoning. What was needed to strengthen the potency
of the spell, through the law of Association, was for one of his pets to
be present at the summoning. The last human he had gifted with his generous
touch would be ideal, but unfortunately Frederigo D'Honaire…..as well as
the Pack he had sent him to….had escaped and for now was beyond the wyrm's
grasp. So, the father who had betrayed Fred by switching maps so Fred would
enter Minestus' lair in the hope that Minestus would finish the headstrong
do-gooder……must do. Drederigo was nearby, relatively speaking, and still
had the small golden icon around his neck. It was supposed to work as a
communication system between man and wyrm, but Minestus was very proud
of a SECOND, hidden function the icon had stored in it. The wrym had been
able to enspell a magic item with TWO functions…..something that nobody
else had been able to do since the time of Atlantis. The wearer of the
icon could be influenced by the dragon to drop everything he or she was
doing, and come as quickly as possible to the dragon. That is, unless the
wearer is REALLY involved in something distracting.
However, Minestus was not to be denied. Focusing all his anger into
the twin of the icon the Drederigo wore around his neck, the dragon reaches
out and batters down the barricades around the D'Honaire's mind. Thus,
the Duke who had sold his soul to the dragon was at last called upon to
by Minestus…..to settle the bill, and the price was Dred's independence,
until the dragon released him. Will no longer his own, Drederigo's eyes
suddenly glaze over. He MUST get to his master NOW.
Zular suddenly finds he's no longer being followed by the king. He hears
shouts for him to come back by his loyal soldiers, but Zular sees Drederigo
is retreating towards the stable.
"COWARD!!" Zular and serveral others scream as the king knocks a guard
off his horse, and ride out the drawbridge (that was down for some reason.
Zular is about to scream something else at the retreating , but then something
gives of a hissing sound by the duke's feet. Zular's lungs burn and his
eyes start to have tears flowing from them. He collapses into a heap as
the tear gas gernade works it's magic on his eyes and lungs. All the duke
and his cronies can do is weep in agony as the gas sears their lungs and
eyes.
<I'm in the process of releasing the prisoners from the dungeon,>
reports Inquirer by channel. <What's the status topside, Probe?>
<The games afoot,> Probe replies in a lame English accent. <Tally
ho and all that rot!>
<Why don't you just bag the bastard and be done!> the female AI asks
in exasperation. <It's the smart thing to do!>
<Fred wants to actually be the one to apprehend his father, hon.>
Probe explains. <And he wants to do it by actually hunting him down
like some type of game animal. I….don't think he's going to kill the blighter,
but I think he wants to throw a scare into his father before he brings
him to trial. Anyway, I'm missing out on the fun right now talking, so
since most of these suckers are out of the fight for now……Out.>

As the female AI explains
to the Amazonian prisoners who she is(a friend of Princess Astra who's
here to liberate the lands from Drederigo D'Honaire and his band of merry
men), Probe's avatar runs along at a modest pace…..along with the adventurers.
