Might even have to fight off some men who won't take no for an answer,
I think as we ride into town.
Now, admittedly, we did not had the best of luck with inns while traveling abroad that one prior time. Last time we had a meal in an inn on a parallel world it had been Annafrid's world, and as luck would have it it had been poisoned..... Well, unfortunately, while this meal wasn't poisoned it sure seemed like it! Gads, the level of service here is as bad as I remember! Being that I no longer am a man and because of the "flipflop" in my tastes for partners, I can't even enjoy the scenery (i.e. the servicing waitresses). ...... The all do look a bit flyblown to me, actually. A little touch up here and there and they'd.... ..... Nevermind. I'm just glad to see the magical pendant (a true sign of the young male, upper class) had worked and Sasha (that one barwench) had not been with child due to my last....fling. Male dominant society that Allaria may be, there are still certain rights and dues to women. One of them is that the family of high blood put the mother of illegitimate offspring into a comfortable position. The little ones from such couplings may not be able to inherit, but they shall not be put into a dire position because of flings! Being that Sasha is still serving suggests that the old family here hasn't need to put her into a comfortable life style..... Lord knows that I feel bad enough about my lifestyle choices before my change, I'd not feel well at all with myself leaving her to raise a son or daughter on her own. Though....another side of me is kind of disappointed here. Mothering instinct, I fear. I think of holding such a little one in my arms....and I like the thought. Right now I'm not in the...er.... market for children yet (the mages tell me any female offspring will be beautiful and have a gem form in their navel upon getting their umbilical cord cut), but sooner or later..... Either I or my sister wouldn't mind if fate should create an early start. I'd be more than happy taking the child off of Sasha's hands if she feels overwhelmed by being a single mother.... ...... Oh well, that aside even the bard plying his trade seems to be stuck in a rut. Same vapid tales of romance and such. Oh, don't get me wrong, I love romance! Just this fellow can make even the steamiest romance.....dull. It's his....voice..... His skills with his lute is excellent, but the voice is killing me! Hmmm.... Well, don't suppose it should heart anything. Roland is a good friend and has good taste in music and I am particularly fond of the Beatles. I go over to the bard and get him to stop long enough to make a proposal. Intrigued, he listens as I hum a few bars of the tune. After a few false starts in improvising, he's ready...and so am I! I have been told by my current love interest that I have a lovely singing voice (amongst the other things that he says is lovely). I already have the attention of many, but as I sing (and my freinds join in, Andrea's high pitched voice adding something special) I have the entire room's attention. Do like being the center of attention.... Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Hey Jude, don't be afraid.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain,
Hey Jude, don't let me down.
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin,
Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Na na nana na na, na na na, Hey Jude... The room breaks into cheers, and I sing a few other songs as encore. Fab five, eat your hearts out! That said, since I mentioned Roland, I've got to wonder about why Probe was so hot about enlisting that Gunslinger's aid in training those in UNIT. Admittedly, the results would be excellent some similar results could be obtained by using cybernetic..... .... Wait, nevermind. I just answered my own question here. Cybernetics are more expensive than training..... I then notice that the barkeep is clapping and asking me about what that is all about. "The last time anyone made such a big ruckus was that one dragonslayer," he continues, remembering, "Insisted on taking Sasha here and got the biggest round of applause I've ever had here before tonight! Custom of them dragonslayers and other highbloods is to have a big event right before they go into somethin' that might be their last night!" "I know....thought forgive me, Sasha, if I don't ask for your company again," I say, looking over at the barwench in question. The room goes quiet when the others in the room kind of get what I'm hinting at. "I'm here to finish what I started," I say simply. Oh, don't look at me like that! Go Back |
