All the reasons said aloud were true, but the others knew themselves
enough to guess the "unsaid" reasons of their "brother" and "sister".....
They all had a feeling that however those retired Military folks had
managed to get some of the more...er....exotic hardware was probably more
convoluted than what will be seen here between Fred and Thessamer, but
the others had a feeling it could very well get very close!
The others hoped it wouldn't, but who knows....
All this went unsaid (aloud). Instead, Jarlath speaks up.
"Indeed," he says, "And as for that I could perhaps get a few clues
from yonder drum, me thinks!"
Jarlath proceeds over to where the drum got kicked and began casting
a low power incantation over it.
"What did he mean by that?" Thessamer asked, perplexed.
"Through certain spells one can obtain clues about the creator of a
magical artifact," Andrea explained, looking up at Thessamer, "He's using
a rather low power one so as to hopefully not attract the attention of
the drum's creator. At the very least we'll be able to tell what kind of
intelligent being created it."
Thessamer's eyes flash, thinking of the possibilities (and wondering
why she hadn't thought of having the mages doing that before now). Then
again, after the debacle with Sir John, she'd not thought well of mages
(and less of men in general) than before....until the Red Pyramid opened
her eyes to a few things.....
Though I rather doubt it'll be a dragon, with what Fred has told
us about dragons on this world (re: 17080, fourth paragraph), she adds
to herself, Creature is probably under the leash of another. Perhaps
even this Sir John we keep hearing so much about. Maybe not in the same
capacity as Minestus with his dragon back on my homeworld, but maybe John
has it as a pet?
Wasn't beyond the realm of possibility.
"Now if you'll excuse me I'll aid him," Andrea smiled, fox ears wiggling
a little in a silent chuckle, "Two heads being better than one and all
that...."
The others stayed back a bit, to act as guards as well as discuss things
while the mages did their magic.
"So....do you mind if I ask about your land....and about Sir John?" Joan asks quietly, making a calming motion when Thessamer seems to flare at the last part, "We are total strangers here in this world, despite it being a parallel world and all that. That and the fact we might need to know things about John in case we must face him. We are family and friends so won't betray you....right?" "Uh, that's true," Thessamer blinks, remembering what they'd gone
and done for her and the others.....
So, in a much nicer tone than used earlier with Fred (re: 1930), Thessamer told of her homeland. "Now, as for John...." Thessamer sighs, remembering, "I tell you
this because I trust you. Gods know that after what you did for me and
Fred that I should...."
