Now, to recap a little bit we shall have to rewind to the point at
which we left the two groups of Terra Prime characters who've seemingly
just met, and refresh the memory before we can continue. We shall have
to ignore the Nantucket/Voyager/Dr Who/Dark Towers bits, for the sake of
levity and sanity.
Hmmm, in fact, let's have a recap of all that's gone here. Nothing long,
just a small recap, if one could call it such. Really, it's more
of just telling where everyone is located right now in the Quest.
So, here they are:
First, we have Jarlath's group. It consists of: Jarlath D'Honaire, Annafrid
D'Honaire, Astra 9 D'Honaire, Joan D'Honaire, Andrea 2, Fred 5a D'Honaire,
and Rowena 2 D'Honaire. After a quick stopover on Terra Prime and gathering
some much needed equipment (and quickly answering questions of an utterly
perplexed Dr. Vincent), they'd had him beam them here to the world where
the Red Pyramid was located (called Nantucket Earth from here on out).
The newly established Slipgate system on this world threw off the tracking
of Dr. Vincent's machine and the group landed on the terminal that had
just been used by a shambling mound who'd just got done shedding.....
Second, we have Malachi's group. It consists of: Malachi, Astra 5a,
her three infants, Louis, Sigourney, Count Yorga, a Frederigo D'Honaire,
and an Astra Thessamer. They'd just finished getting briefed and recruited
by the Rules and Agents when they'd heard the inhuman groaning a shambling
mound of flesh had given off on it's way back to the Slipgate terminal.
They'd met and admonished one Nantucket lumberjack for cursing in front
of them and young elfin children (who'd begun to awaken and babble a few
questions in Elvish). They'd watched the shambling mound vanish into thin
air (aghast at the horrid thing), and were in the process of figuring out
just how to proceed in their Quest when Jarlath's group showed up. Astra
5a and Fred 5a noticed each other immediately!
Third, we have Fred the Manfox's group stuck inside the Red Pyramid.
This group is the largest of the three. It's made up of: Frederigo D'Honaire
the Manfox, Alicia, Alicia 2, Jarlath 2 D'Honaire, Annafrid 2 D'Honaire,
Astra 9a D'Honaire, Demifox Fred, Demifox Astra, Fred 5b, Astra 5b, their
three infants, 7 sets of Astras and Freds recently abducted by the Book,
Belinda Thessamer, 6 sets of Freds and Astras kidnaped earlier on by the
Book (one couple having been "utilized" by the Book....and now are creatures
who were spawning the foundation of new non-human civilizations on Nantucket
Earth). This group was still trying to find a means out of the Pyramid,
and not having much luck at the moment. During a pause in the search (which
now includes trying to locate that one missing couple), one Fred gets the
bright idea of looking in the book that mirrors that particular Fred's
and Astra's lives. Fred the Manfox's eyes grow wide when he gets to the
part telling what happened to them......
"Oh bloody Hell," he whispers hoarsely, shocked.
But meanwhile....
After Fred, Astra, and the kids have their reunion (and believe
me....as far as the rest of the is concerned for them the world can go
hang until their done), then they get back to the Quest. Oh, some may argue
about priorities, but above all else, the first thing that Astra, the kids,
and Fred 5a will be doing will be meeting each other again (a family forming
event). That done then, the next order of business would be (after magically
creating some clothing for the giggling elven children, causing the lumberjack
to wonder just what in the #$% is going on here) to get a map at the library.
The ride back to the island was easy enough, considering that more attention
is being paid to the wide eyed (and incredibly cute) elfin children. After
a bit of calculations from Malachi and Jarlath......and a bit of consternation
when some realize just how FAR the they have to go......
"Well, it'll be a bit of a trip..." Malachi sighs, "But not too
far by dragonback......"
Nobody feels like risking their neck on the Slipgate system, new or
not!
Yep, their destination (the Red Pyramid) is the jungles of lower Mexico......in
what is now the transformed and abandoned remains of what WOULD have been
the Olmec nation.
Nantucket makes for an interesting stopover, but the characters
don't feel like living there....or even visiting overlong. With all the
insanity going on around there whatever attraction a strange group of people
coming out of the wilderness that's definitely out of step with the times
(the American Indians of the area are still in the Hunter/Gatherer stage
while the adventurers are more like the Iron Age and all that, amongst
other things)....well, they'll be overlooked by most, strangely enough.
There are bigger concerns than some oddly dressed folk running about like
the adventurers.
-
Well, that
is until Malachi changes into her full sized dragon form and the adventurers
take off. That'll make even the most blasé person take notice!
