In the room of Hathar'ruil/Scouter
Jenny looks down at the young elfin boy who seems to recognize her,
wondering how to proceed.....
<Mother?> Jenny finally ventures by Sending.
Hathar'ruil/Scouter's eye's grow wide in surprise and begins to laugh,
only to bite it off. Part to spare his sister's feelings. Part due to the
fact that laughing at such a juncture would be undiplomatic, to say the
least. Part in the realization that with the color of his hair (silver)
and the uncertain nature of just how this business of prior lives coming
forth..... Heck, Hathar'ruil/Scouter wouldn't be surprised if his mother
suddenly popped into his head next (despite the feelings he'd followed
to find his parents).
"Uhh....guess again," the elfin boy finally says, speaking in the tongue
of a language who's world wasn't even dust now.
"My....name is both Hathar'ruil....and Scouter," the young elfin boy
continues, sighing, wincing at a growing headache. "I....don't know which
one is right, really, for they are both as real as the other."
"Surely, brother, your soul name should....." Jenny begins, slipping
into the old World of Two Moon's version of Elven, only to see the elfin
boy's eye's go wide in surprise.

didn't happen often, but I remember that look from back in the Holt when
I was able to bring forth a solution to a problem almost from thin air
whilst he had been pondering it for days....frustrated.
"I must be an idiot!" Hathar'ruil/Scouter mutters to himself.
If anything could straighten out things in his head, it would be that!
Okay, for the uninitiated, a Soul Name, for a Wolfrider, is a sound/thought/concept
of everything that a certain Wolfrider is. It's almost like a password
into the Wolfrider's very soul, in a lot of respects. Thus, this name is
guarded VERY much, for it is extremely painful (and then some) when spoken
and used by....say an enemy. But if shared with loved one.....it's very
much like the Truename that the Manimals have (re: 1459).
Beginning to concentrate, the young boy pauses as he senses that......somebody
else has entered the room. That, and there is something a bit extra needed
for this idea to work properly.
Jenny and Hathar'ruil/Scouter turn and see their new friends looking
in through the doorway, and a very special silver haired elfin girl that....despite
her new body......
The Wolfriders know very well the tale of their origins. The tale of
the High One who'd changed herself into a wolf to better hunt and provide
food for her friends.....gotten lost within..... That and given birth to
the one who'd become the first Wolfrider, Timmorn Yellow-Eyes.
Despite the body, the spirit within seems to shine through to the two elves (one a Wolfrider still, one what could only be called an Ex-Wolfrider). Go Back
