was coming from which had let him see where he was going as he proceeded
deeper into the caves. Presumably the walls gave off some sort of magical
light, which had now been abruptly turned off. Was the laughter the dragon?
Could dragons laugh? He had never heard that they could. If it was the
dragon, was this tunnel wide enough for it to enter, or would he be comparatively
safe here?
Fred opened his pack, and tried to find by touch his tinderbox and torch (a piece of wood treated so that it would burn slowly and steadily). Before he could do so:
