Annafrid knew that there was a risk that killing the dragon would alert
its master to her presence. But she knew how to find the dragon, using
the crystal ball, whilst as yet she did not know how to track down its
master. Perhaps once she had killed the dragon she would find something
in its lair that would point her in the right direction. She took the ball
out of the pouch...

 And summoned up the vision of the dragon's
lair again, confident that she could control things better this time.

 Then
had second thoughts, and put it away again.
