"Ah, so the fair mechanised maiden marvel has returned," Dragon Fred
says in an airy voice, bowing in his best courtly manner. This draws a
few chuckles from the rest of the Circle.
"I trust that the dreaded monsters of the comb didn't tax you too much,"
Malachi D'Honaire mugs as the slightly embarrassed AI/Golem comes back
out of the shuttle craft.
"Like I said, piece of cake, Lord and Lady of the former Foofy Foxtails!"
Inquirer smiles, straightening the red beret that somehow seemed to compliment
the green and brown forestry outfit that Sigin Vulpine had replaced her
torn uniform with. She straightens out her jerkin with a halfhearted tug,
and then looks down at the smiling demi-fox and vixen.
"You're sure that you can't change this back into what I asked for?"
the golem asks the the former dragon. "I mean it looks good on me and all,
but……"
"He'll just say: 'I'm a mage, not a tailor.' Alicia 2 murmurs, coming
up to the group. "And don't tempt him! The next thing you may get is something
like this!"
Inquirer quirks an eyebrow at the sight of the formal ball gown that
now graces the dusky skinned, green eyed lady.
"Okay, little fox," Carraden 2 chuckles. "Fun's fun, but……"
The formal ball gown fuzzes and reforms into an outfit similar to the
one that the Inquirer is wearing.
Sighing, the demi-fox's tail droops a little, then starts to wag again
as the owner smiles….with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"Sersiously," the former dragon says. "I can do much with the Crystallic,
but…..you stand out like a red and swollen thumb in that old uniform of
yours. At least this way, you blend in!"
"As much as a person dressed up in Aeuropean clothing blends in to any
native humans of the Americas," Carradene mutters. He of all of them is
at least looks like one of the Native Americans (discounting the fact that
the magi was a humaniod grey furred wolf)….with what he's finally settled
for (after looking in a mirror and shaking his head in embarrassment at
what had been cutting fashion for magi back home…..he'd felt more comfortable
in breach clothe….it fit.)
"Speaking of fashion and all," Fred asks, suddenly curious. "Where did
you get that barrette? It's style looks…..familiar….but I can't seem to
place it. It's not the type I've seen the Skottlanders wear……" Inquirer
takes the group inside, and the golem roots through a backpack with various
instruments of mayhem and destruction within before pulling out an item
that makes the others blink.
"Oh, it's styled after this," the AI/golem says, holding up her trophy.
"This was from a bored Fair Folk who thought he could have some fun with
the local humans. The SOB was actually soaking this thing in the blood
of his latest victim…."
"You…..met a Red Cap?" Fred asks quietly.
"Yep," the female golem sighs. "Apparently, the Red Cap saw me, and
saw another easy mark." The Golem buffed the back of her hand on her jerkin
and studied it….with a look of a cat with canary feathers in her mouth.
"He WON'T be bothering the local humans any more."
The others squelch any pity for the now departed monster, for the Red
Cap was part of the Unseelie Court…..the dark hearted band of the Fairy
who loved to make life for human….mortals in general….miserable.
"I liked the design….if not the….choice of dyes….so…." Inquirer shrugs.
"Do you have any unusual items….since we're sharing?"
The others look at each other and just shake their heads….they don't
have anything CLOSE to that (with the exception of the Crystallics….who's
tales of how they came to have them was already known by Inquirer by now).
Then…..
-
"Actually,"
Malachi, back in dragoness form, says. "I have this book……."
