"I take it it's not supposed to read:'Strength through unity?'" Fred
asks as he looks up at and read the dragon langauge; what he knows from
his studies as an apprentice Dragon Slayer (blanketed between the "ample"
time between his learning as journeyman Dragonbane Forger/smith).
"I...don't think we're looking at a prank," Sigin says, shivering. "Remember,
some of us are supposed to be from other realities. In my reality,
that motto reads 'Strength from Unity."
"So NONE of us are from this world is what your getting at?" Fred says
in a quiet voice. "That somewhere out there on this world are OTHER people
who are almost just like us, except for small details here and there?"
Malachi nods, and Fred feels like sitting down, but stands because....frankly
there's nothing to sit on upon around here in this area.
"Well, I know what I want to do before I go any further," sighs Malachi.
"I'm really....REALLY interested in learning how to use that Crystallic
thing that you two have there....But I just wonder if they are cursed,
for why would I...er....my analog fight Synizn?"
"Oops," sighs Sigin. "Mental slip there. Sometimes when I get REALLY
excited, I tend to boggle names. Your analog fought Minestus, not Synizn.
It's an annoying habit that I never got out of, though I've tried! That's
why I SING when I cast spells, it seems that I don't...slip up when I'm
using that part of my mind."
Crystallics are FINALLY examined, and everyone who has any magical knowledge
is amazed at....how simple it's operation is.....and how powerful it is.
The items can change anything's matrix into anything else....within limits.
A few aspects of certain forms of Lycanthropy.....like a demi-fox.....would
require much more Umph than anything less that a bakers dozen of Crystallics
to be effectively changed, safely.
