27408: The Carriage Problem

Post by Anableps »

Either the dragon's interpretation or Astra's can be considered correct. If one wants to consider the distance of the most direct line between the two carriages, Astra's interpretation is correct. However, carriages (in general) cannot fly , and so, if we limit ourselves to the network of Allarian roads, the permissible paths are confined to these roads, so the dragon's interpretation would be more "correct."

I thought that it would be amusing to see how Lord Fred would react to being subjected to the algebraic "word problem."

In fact the dragon (and the author) made a mistake. I took time zero as being the time at which the second carriage began its journey, ie 1pm, and forgot to add the hour back in.
