Absent Friends

I fell to musing about all the former writers who no longer post episodes. Let's hope that one day at least a few of them will return, as Knight Random and Noise Tank have recently done. Using the bulletin board member list to refresh my memory, here are some of the more prolific contributors that we've lost, very approximately in chronological order of their first appearance: Sir Toby (as a writer), Josh Bieber, L.E., ragan, The Traveler, WolfRun, Y / YY, Ryu / PsychoSkyGunner, Roanna, Keegan, Bill L., TCO, Mr. Qrygg, Pozzo, The Seeker, The Living End, unknown adventurer, ODS, Sir Paulito, Wooster, Erlend, El' Moocow, Won-Tolla, Karen Ford, Xavier, Cicero, Frank, Sam, Indecisive Hedgehog. I expect that I've overlooked one or two significant contributors.

And those who are still with us: Lots42, MSG/Grimm Reader, JH, Knight Random / Time Warrior, Ib / Lost Soldier, Anableps, Noise Tank, Ben McClellan, Lord Reaibn (hopefully).

I hope so. I'd love to see more of the old gang come back. I'm trying to convince both my real-life friends and online friends to come to this site as well.

By the way, JH, I noticed you extended some of my episodes. Thank you. I will get around to extending them. Just a lot going on in my life right now, so I haven't been able to write at the moment.

Thanks. There's no rush for a new episode, so long as you don't disappear again.

I realised that in my list I omitted Eric Kantona.

I've been prioritizing other things right now, including my dissertation, but I definitely mean to post more.

Good. :) Of course your dissertation has to come first. (That set me to wonder why there's no corresponding verb for the noun "dissertation". So far as I'm aware, one can't "dissert" or "dissertate".)

I know my output here dipped dramatically five years ago when Horsehockey reopened. I never intended to abandon NEQ, but I probably could devote more time here.

Also, it's always pleasant to see a long inactive contributor return out of nowhere. Wish that happened more often.

Not going to lie, I love that the look of this site has never changed (barring the boards). It really does take me back to the early days of the internet and my childhood. There is something beautiful and charming about its simplicity. Takes you back to a simpler time.

Yep. And Sir Toby deserves enormous credit for having kept the place going for very nearly 20 years now. There aren't too many sites with such longevity.

I agree with that, JH and Noise Tank. Simple is very much underrated. Thanks to Sir Toby for keeping this site up twenty years, and to JH, Ben, and the many other contributors to the site over the years.

And Happy Birthday to the NEQ. Today is the 20th anniversary of episodes 1 and 2. :D

Yes, Happy Birthday, NEQ. I'd meant to post at least one episode today to mark the occasion, but it doesn't look like I'm going to have enough time. Maybe tomorrow.
