Problem

Post by Lots42 »

The recent additions to my episode...I have not received my email notifications. I even checked my spam folder. Not there.

Which episode(s)? Once I know, I can check that the necessary box is ticked and that there isn't a typo in your email address.

All the ones that were continued in the past few weeks.

In that case, assuming that you haven't recently changed the gmail address that you're using, I think that the notifications are probably being rejected by gmail as possible spam, perhaps because all the notification messages are so similar. Is there any gmail setting that you can tweak to prevent that? Failing that, do you have an alternative non-gmail address that you could use (eg the address that LJ uses to send you messages)? Of course that wouldn't help with old episodes where you'd already used the gmail address.

I don't think that it's this site that's to blame, as my most recent notification was on the 9th and I haven't missed any that I should have had.

I've just done a web search, and these links might help with how to get gmail's spam filter to be better behaved:

I used to go into my spam folder and mark all the not-spam as 'not spam'. Or 'star' it for extra 'not-spamness'.

No NEQ notifications was found in my spam folder.

I did email Sir Toby to tell him about your problem. He uses GMail himself, and said that he too had had problems with their spam filtering. It looks as though they may recently have made it more "agressive".

I'm moving this thread to the Extend-A-Story topic, as that's where it really belongs as I suspect that there would be the same problem with Tje Black Void too. Sir Toby recently visited the forum, and may have missed this thread because it was in The Never Ending Quest topic.

GMail is currently blocking all email from Sir-Toby.Com. The blocking is done without regard for any filter settings set by the recipient. There is nothing you can do to receive Sir-Toby.Com emails through GMail at this time. I have looked into a handful of options to fix the problem, but unfortunately none of them have worked. I have some other ideas to try, but they are going to take significant time to implement. For now, I suggest using an alternative email provider to receive Sir-Toby.Com emails. If anyone requests, I will do a mass update of an author's email address in the Sir-Toby.Com stories to ensure that notifications go to a new email address.

I just tested sending email from my Sir-Toby.Com email account to my GMail account and found that it worked! It seems that GMail has stopped blocking all email from Sir-Toby.Com.

However... The email went straight into my spam folder. If you are using GMail and are still not seeing email from Sir-Toby.Com, please check your spam folder. If this is a persistent problem, you can set up a filter to prevent messages from Sir-Toby.Com being marked as spam.

Let me know if you are still having issues getting email notifications from Sir-Toby.Com.
