"We require all our breeders to remain naked for reasons of health and safety," the doctor says. That sounds like a pretty flimsy excuse to me. Perhaps the doctor sees my sceptical expression, as he adds: "Specifically, should a slave somehow acquire something that could be used as a weapon, being unclothed prevents her from concealing it. You need not worry that your nudity will lead to any unwelcome attention from the guards or other staff. They all know that should they step out of line they would face very severe punishment."
I suppose that's some comfort. In any case, there is clearly no point in trying to argue with him. "I see," I say. "Then I'll leave now if that's OK." When he does not object, I walk out into the corridor.
