Sarah Doesn't Want to Come Between Roger and His Beloved

"I see," Sarah said, though she did not see at all. "But she won't mind me working with you, especially given that I'm going to be dressed rather skimpily? I wouldn't want to make things difficult for you."

"No, that won't be a problem," Roger said.

"Perhaps if I was to meet her it would help to reassure her?" she said, hoping that she wouldn't antagonise Roger with the suggestion. She was curious about the girl, though, given how evasive he was being.

1. "All right," he said, rather to her surprise. "Tomorrow evening I will take you to see her."
2. "She lives some way outside the city, so it would be difficult to arrange," he said. She suspected that was not the real reason.
3. "That will not be possible," he said flatly.
