I resign to becoming a cat and enter the box. And I wait. The door is
slammed behind me. A moment later, there is a humming noise. I stare
at myself, ready to watch myself being changed into a cat. And I do
not see any change at all. Two minutes later the humming stop and the door
opens.
I examine myself. I am still a human being, not a cat. Obviously the experiment to have me transformed into a cat is a total failure. I smile and step outside the box ready to tell the man in the red tie that he is obviously a total fraud. When I step out of the box, I am shocked. Outside the box is a cat standing in front of me, wearing a red tie and a blue shirt, wiping his brow. Upon seeing me, the cat jumps up in excitement and shouts "We did it! We have transformed a cat into a human being!" "What?" I shout. But to my surprise, I hear myself saying "Meow." Something is very wrong here. I was supposed to be a cat that can meow like a cat. And the man with the blue shirt and red tie was supposed to be a man. And if I am supposed to be a human being, shouldn't I be able to talk plain English instead of meowing like a cat? Another cat with a black tie and blue shirt comes in and slaps the cat with the red tie on the back. "Congratulations! Let's celebrate our success!" I can...
