Three men had survived the explosion of their boat. Two Petty Officers, second class, and their Captain, Arnoldo River. Jacques actually knew Captain River, as the made it his mission to know all seafaring vessels in the area. Fortunately River had been laid out due to a nasty gash in his side. Several of the survivors in the arboretum were watching the man, sleeping off a morphine shot from an emergency kit one of the Petty Officers had been carrying. Both Petty Officers were large men, with broad shoulders. One a blonde haired Norwegian man named Marius Malov. The other, a jet black Jamaican named Cordell Vine. Cordell had produced the First Aid pack and was now checking out the other survivors. Marius stood by the entrance to the building, holding a long pistol he had swiped from a body on the beach. Jacques had been talking. The gun was unfamiliar but the dead man had a knife wound straight through his neck. "Someone stabs a person and then doesn't remove their gun." Jacques noted. "Perhaps they were chased off by other attackers." "All attackers had guns. Why didn't they shoot the person with the knife?" "Something to keep in mind." acknowledge Marius. "Cornell!" he called. "Everyone okay to move?" "Yup." rumbled the big man. "I got two volunteers who know how to handle injured people. They'll take the Captain whenever you give the order."
