“Hi honey. How was your day?” Working in the kitchen is his wife, still as slender, short, blonde, and beautiful as he remembers her being that morning. She is still in the clothes she wore to work. In the living room, he sees his boys, Jean and Paul, setting up a board game. Everything seems to be back to normal.
“Honey. Is everything OK?” Jacques struggles to find words. His heart lifts to see his family safe. But he is still shaken. What the hell just happened?“Honey…!” Her next word is cut short by Jacques embracing her for a long kiss. Her eyes widen, but she accepts it all the same. She doesn’t complain either when he discreetly grabs her butt. “Jackie! What’s gotten into you?”“Nothing, sweetheart. It’s just…good to be home.” That is his wife all right. Same taste of her lips. Same perfect bum. Same loving personality. He doesn’t know how, but he’s back. “Well, I’m glad you’re home. Jean is having a friend over tonight. You’ll need to help them get everything set up.”Jacques then notices that in the corner of the living room is a third figure. She is sitting with her arms around her knees, her head hanging forward and her black hair so long that he can’t see her face. “She’s a little shy. Her name is Pandora. She’s the little girl from the 7th House.Now his eyes widened. “7th house?” “Yes. Those new neighbors who just moved in. I haven’t met yet. Maybe you should welcome them. I’d join you, but I’m a little tied up right now.”“Daddy, come play with us!” Paul yells from the living room. Jacque’s acts normal. But he realizes things aren’t right. The 7th house is still there when it wasn’t there this morning. Something else catches his eye. The cover of the box reads The Black Void. The cover art of a swirling black cloud with shadowy figures in the background is very macabre, akin to artwork he’s seen of Lovecraft’s stories. He’s been a tour guide for many years and has never seen any merchandise like this being sold.The little girl still hasn’t looked up. The more he looks at her, the more she gives him the creeps. Something isn’t right here.
