"Lucky guess," I replied. "How did it happen?"

Carl's flustered look reappeared. "Gregor Stefanovich's lieutenant was on the television offering an exclusive interview with the rebel leader, stating a rendezvous point. We all thought there was something fishy about it - well, all except Linda, that is. Even her cameraman had issues with the idea, but had no choice but to go along.

"About ten minutes ago - perhaps not even that - the lieutenant was back on the TV saying about the kidnap."

Damn, I thought. "What are the demands?"

Carl frowned. "President Klausoyev's resignation."

Now that didn't surprise me as much as I thought it would. Did they honestly believe that would work?

1. Just then one of the other reporters called out, "Hey guys, come over here!"
