Okay, so this seems to be some kind of game, or there wouldn't be
voices in your head telling you rules. And if there is one general
rule for games like this, it is that whenever you are facing
a number of choices, the least sensible one usually turns out to
be the one you need. Sure, a flashlight might come in handy in the
dark, but as far as you can tell the room you are heading for is
already illuminated, and you don't even know if you will need to go
any further. A dagger could save your life, but only if you know how
to use it, and you are not quite sure you do.
So it's the ribbon then. Putting down the other items you grasp the
ribbon firmly and run towards the doorway. This time there is little
resistance, a brief tug on your hair, and then you're through. Turning around, you notice that your hair seems wilder than before, and realize you've lost your scrunchie. It must have slipped off when you went through the invisible wall. Resisting the urge to tie up your hair with the ribbon, you move on towards the door, hoping it isn't locked. Suddenly your foot hits something soft, and as you look down expecting another invisible barrier, you find that the door is guarded - as it were. A small white blue eyed kitten sits there right in front of you, looking curiously up at the big human as if wondering what she (that is, you) is doing there. You are not quite sure yourself, so rather than wasting precious time talking to the kitten you try to walk around it - and it gets in your way again. Okay, so that doesn't work. Looks like you have found the next puzzle in the game. Mostly to verify it, you bend over and try to pick up the kitten as another torch hisses into unlitness behind you. The kitten hisses a bit too as it jumps right out of your reach. Pausing briefly to ponder your few options, you realize that you made the right choice earlier - neither of the other two items would get you past a kitten, and there is only one thing you can do with a kitten and a ribbon...
Grasping the ends of the ribbon with both hands, you hunch down and hold it
out. The kitten starts purring loudly as it sits down in front of you and
raises its head slightly. Looks like you got it! Ignoring the third hiss
behind you, you swiftly wrap the ribbon around the tiny neck and tie it in place.
