Running away isn't an option. If I try to do that they will clearly have
no hesitation in shooting me. And ranting and raving seems likely only to
make matters even worse for me than they already are. So I let Joey take
me away down one of the corridors. He walks just a couple of paces behind
me, his gun aimed at my back.
"See that door just ahead and on the left?" he says. I do. A sign on it reads "J. Smith, CEO." The guard continues: "We're going in there. I'm not going to make the mistake of knocking, as I don't want you behind me. So you're going to knock and then you go in, with me right behind you." I do as he says. Inside, sitting behind a desk with a PC on it, is a distinguished-looking middle-aged man in a smart suit. "This is one of the latest arrivals, sir," the guard says. "And you have brought her to me why?" "She tried to incite an uprising. Grabbed a guard's gun from him." "So you don't want to be a slave?" the boss says, clearly now addressing me. "No. You have no right..." He interrupts. "The ones with the guns are the only ones who have rights. Unfortunately for you, that's us. The sooner you learn that, the better it will be for you." He turns back to the guard.
