As we're a fair way out of town, I'm sure that Tim" - that's the name of the research student who brought you here - "will be happy to give you a lift back to where he first met you."

"But you can't just abandon me," you protest. "I have only the clothes I stand up in, no money, no papers, and no way of proving my true identity. My home is at the other end of the country, but even if I could get there I doubt that I could convince my loved ones of who I am.
