You Request Shoes

The Black Void - Episode 6474

"The Prof is a physicist who's been collecting reports of appearances of the Black Void," your companion tells you. "I'm one of his research students. Several dozen people claim to have seen the Black Void over the last few years, and one had the presence of mind to film it, which is what convinced us that it really existed. But until now we've never found anyone who's actually been through one. People tend to give them a wide berth, as you can imagine. But you've been through one not just once but three times! We have hypothesised that they could be wormholes through space, but your own experience suggests that they could lead between parallel universes, since magic doesn't work in our own universe as far as we know."

He is clearly very excited, but at last he has to pause for breath. That gives you the chance to say: "I was afraid that you wouldn't believe such a wild story."

"That you're in the middle of New York, looking like you do and dressed as you are, is pretty convincing, along with the fact that you speak perfect English."

"I suppose so. Before we go and see your professor, do you think that you could buy me some shoes? I'm afraid that I might step on broken glass or something. I don't know my shoe size any more, but I imagine it will be a child's size."

  1. He takes you into a nearby department store and soon you are shod. He doesn't offer to buy you any clothes, and you don't like to suggest it since you can't pay for anything, so you remain wearing your fur bikini.
  2. As well as shoes, he buys you some clothes. They are children's styles, of course, as you are about the size (though not the shape) of a typical nine year old girl and no adult clothes will fit you.
  3. "The professor doesn't like to be kept waiting. Just try to tread carefully."
