You judge that the four waiters are human, and you assume that they must
all be loyal servants of Dracula. Though they all appear to be at least
sixty years old, the fact that they are male adds to your feeling of
discomfort. However they seem to take no interest in you, or in any other
of the girls for that matter, merely serving the food silently and
efficiently.
Seeing you take your first mouthful rather gingerly, the girl to your right says: "Don't worry, you'll soon get used to the fangs. I'm Carmilla, by the way." You realise that it would lead to unwanted questions if you used your real, male, name. And you don't fancy calling youself Annabelline. Not only does it bring back unhappy memories, but it's a bit of a mouthful. Carmilla is looking at you expectantly, and is going to think it peculiar if you don't tell her your name. So you decide to use your sister's name. "I'm Karen. Hello." As the meal proceeds, you learn the other girls' names. Though they seem unwilling to tell you anything about their lives before becoming vampires (you suspect under orders from Dracula), they are happy to talk about life in the castle. You are stunned to learn that some have been vampires for several hundred years, though others are comparatively recent arrivals.
