The Alien Scientist Explains

"We can and we are. We needed someone with intelligence, so that the Earth animals we have collected are of no use. We had originally intended to use some of the pgymies, but their tribe turned out to be very inbred and so they all have genetic defects that make them unsuitable. So we used a black void to collect you."

"So your people are behind the black voids! But why are you doing these crazy genetic experiments?"

"We need a source of slave labour. The workers need to be intelligent, but interplanetary treaties prevent us from using most intelligent species. But your own people have not yet achieved interstellar travel and so are not covered by any treaty. Unfortunately humans are not ideal physically. As well as intelligence, we require more strength and stamina than the species possesses. These experiments are to identify a body that will meet our specifications. Once we are happy, we will send a fleet of black voids to Earth to pick up a few thousand humans to be sent here and transformed. Human women only. They tend to be more docile than the males, and thus more suitable as slaves."

"That's monstrous," you say, rather repeating yourself.

"That may be your opinion, but that is of no concern to me. One basic requirement for our slaves is of course that they should be able to breathe our atmosphere. A minor modification to your nose has enabled it to filter out the trace gas that has turned out to be highly toxic to Earth life-forms."

He continues:

1. "Now I need to carry out some tests to determine your current body's strength and stamina."
2. "Tests done on you before you regained consciousness have already shown that the human-chimp cross is not the answer, so I need to try something else."
3. "I..." But before he can say any more you attack him, hoping that you will be able to escape.
