"Oh, dear child! I was so worried about you!," Matilda exclaims as she
grabs your hand, pulling you into a taxi. She is wearing a pinstripe
buisness suit with a long skirt. Even though you just met her, it seems
strange to see her in modern attire. She shouts the directions to the
driver and you take off. "Now, your father never told you this, but when
the power to create and control the black voids to travel to and from
different worlds. As a safety measure, homes were purchased and
maintained in different worlds for the protection of the royal family.
Your father had a home made for you, called an "apartment," in a tall
building in this city. I know this transportation and these buildings may
be strange to you, but I'll explain all that later." "In any case," she continues, "we took the liberty of preparing your chambers and your clothing to your tastes. The fashion of this world is quite a bit different, but you'll need to get used to this, as you may have to fit in hiding while you hide out. It may be several months before someone opens a portal to retrieve us. You'll have money and two maidservants, counting myself." You then arrive at a large skyscraper, still unsure of your location. Entering the lobby, you find a beautiful fountain in the courtyard and several elevators that go up. Matilda instructs you on the use of an elevator while you feign ignorance. You ride to the top floor and enter your apartment. Looking around, you see a beautiful room with glass windows overlooking the entire city for what seems like miles. "Now, if you would like to change out of that dirty nightgown and into some clean clothes, we can discuss our situation out here." Matilda says, gesturing to a door on the left, which is apparently your quarters. You enter the room, which also has a beautiful view. The flowered sheets and flowers resting in a vase on top of a vanity feel very girly, but the room is otherwise very comfortable. You decide to search the dresser and closet for something to wear.
