Realising that he assumes that I am one of the slaves, I say: "I was sent here to fetch outfits for some of the new arrivals."

"Unsupervised?"

"The guards have their hands full with all the new arrivals, and nobody could be spared. I'm well enough trusted to be allowed to go unescorted."

1. He accepts that. He opens a cardboard box, takes out the items that he came to the storeroom for, and then leaves.
2. "Your supervisor is too trusting," he says. "He shouldn't have gone against orders like that. Select the outfits that you came for, and I will escort you back."
3. "You're lying. You must have escaped from the new batch. Your long hair gave you away. All the slaves have their hair cut very short."
