In the Jungle

Matilda had seemed to have some knowledge of, and even perhaps some control over, the void, but something must have gone wrong; she had surely intended for you both to arrive at the same destination. Also it seems very unlikely that this is the destination that she had in mind.

You appear to be in a tropical jungle. The light is dim, for little can make its way through the canopy of leaves high overhead. Perhaps for that reason, there is comparatively little undergrowth. It is hot and very humid, and although you have been here less than a minute you are already starting to drip with sweat.

Off to one side it is much brighter, with even some sunlight. That is because there is an area devoid of trees. However the reason for that is that there is a swamp there, with bubbles of some gas occasionally breaking the surface of the mud. You clearly can't go that way.

You look down at your nightie and slippers. They are hardly the clothing of choice for this situation.

1. You hear a distant call of "Princess! Where are you?" It seems that Matilda did make it through with you after all.
2. You suddenly feel a stab of pain in your upper arm. Looking at it, you see a primitive dart protruding from the spot. Then you spot a pygmy with a blowpipe some distance away. Eveidently he is responsible for the dart.
3. You clearly can't stay here. Choosing a direction at random, you start walking.
4. It's so hot and humid, that you feel a great lassitude come over you. You decide to remain where you are till nightfall, when hopefully it will become a little cooler.
