Major sandstorms are a rarity in this region. I think at first that this
one has been very fortunately timed. Though the escapees won't be able to
leave the village till it lifts, it will have obliterated the tracks left
by their buggy. But then it occurs to ne that, when the women do go on
their way, the buggy will leave tracks starting from its currect
location. If the plane does eventually search this area, that will make
it obvious that the buggy must have stopped there for an extended period.
Otherwise the tracks would have become visible gradually rather than
abruptly.
With luck, the searchers will conclude that the buggy was forced to stop while the storm raged, but it might occur to them that a village being only a short distance away could be more than a coincidence. Though the women should be gone by the time anyone from the facility comes to the village, they could ask the villagers some awkward questions; also I would need to hide myself from them. Luckily that does not seem to have occurred to anyone else. The villagers and the escapees both seem to view the storm as a blessing, and so both are much more relaxed this morning.
