The Black Void - Episode 445

Dark roiling clouds swirl overhead, and a torrential downpour beats down,
soaking the rice fields and mud and straw huts of the local villagers. To
the north, surrounded by swampland, looms the massive wooden castle of the
local warlord, Sanjugiri the Brazen. A monster who boils his subjects
alive and collects all the pretty local girls to sate his diabolical
perversions. How do I know this? Where am I? Where is my mommy? The clown said... A couple of local children run by laughing in the rain, singing "Ichi, ni, san!". They vanish around the corner, and with a start you realize you understood what they said. Glancing down at yourself, you are shocked again to realize you are wearing the local clothing - a simple wraparound robe and sandals with socks. What happened?! But a second later, you almost forget what you were wondering about. Were you looking for your mommy? She died, three years ago, when the Black Void Dragon Clan attacked your family's dojo. Your father and three brothers were slaughtered, and your mommy raped and murdered before your eyes as you hid, trembling. And one of the men responsible... was Sanjugiri the Brazen. The man you're hunting now. The man you're sworn to kill, slowly and painfully. This isn't right! I wanna go home! Slowly you shake these strange doubts out of your mind. What is this voice inside your head, telling you about strange things like computers and motor cars and some sort of amusement park? You can't let anything distract you from your mission. You've trained too hard these past three years, learning the ways of the Ninja, remembering everything your father had taught you before he died. Perhaps a grown-up nerd could have explained it to you - the mechanics of physical transfer between worlds. You can't simply go as you are, you must assume an identity that already belongs there, one that is as close to you physically and mentally as possible. But no grown-up nerds are in sight. Help! "Shut up!" you tell yourself in Japanese. "I'll figure you out later. After he is dead." You check your equipment. The flute that enables you to pose as a travelling performer. Three throwing stars. A pouch of fugu poison. Two daggers. All of it expertly concealed, as if you are carrying nothing at all. And the worst of it is safely hidden in your head - the ninja magic that can kill with a whisper or hide you from sight. The time to act is now. But what's the first step?
